I'm Weighing-in On This Subject
American Weigh (ironically made in China) makes a wide variety of scales that can be seen at their web site. I have had very good success with the two "pocket" units I have purchased (2000gm-limit SC-2kg & 500gm-limit SM-501). Recommend you download the PDF manual for any scale of your interest and read it before purchasing. The manuals will tell you what weights are needed to calibrate each scale. These scales work on an electronic strain guage principle, and as such are very accurate and repeatable if used gently and not abused (set items gently onto them, do not drop - and do not exceed scale weight limit). They have some nice additional features as well. The two units above require 2xAAA batteries each (I use Energizer Lithium AAA). The SM-501 is 20x more precise and better for weighing smaller items or high-precision work (powders, jewels, small coins, etc.) and has 6 weight types vs. 4; I would recommend it if not going over 500gm (~ 17 oz. or 1 pound). Both scales arrived fairly well calibrated, but I used the proper calibration weights to set them precisely and check them before each use - this is particularly important with the high-precision SM-501. Once calibrated, I have not yet needed to recalibrate again. These calibration weights are very nice, accurate, and work well. If you are a precision person, you can purchase one weight and use it to make your own temporary weights. The SC-2kg scale requires a 500gm and 2000gm weight to calibrate it. I bought this 500gm weight and used it to make (precisely match) 3 more 500gm weights with stuff around the house, then stacked them all four together to create the 2000gm calibration weight. You can add tiny pices of paper or sand or drops of water to get a precise match. (2 kilograms = 2kg = 2000 grams = 2000gm = 4 x 500gm)

Weights are fine, but packaging needs to be better
Sizes: 2 kg (2 ea.), 1 kg, 500 g, 200 g (2 ea.), purchased 2019-07–2024-01 In combination with a set of smaller weights, I can check any value between 10 mg and 6 kg. I’ve had occasional problems with packaged goods being less than claimed, and mentioning a calbration check usually puts the kibosh on any questions about my scales. These weights are OIML Class M2 (±0.016%), which is adequate for my purposes. I’m not running a metrology lab, but simply want to ensure that my scales are reasonably accurate. I have no way of verifying the accuracy, but indications from four different scales have been in very close agreement with the stated values, which would seem to speak well for both the weights and the scales. The finish is good, and is slightly nicer on the two weights I purchased most recently. As several others have noted, it’s easy to get a few minor dings and scratches; the weights should be protected with something better than a thin plastic zip bag. One major caveat with the larger weights: Amazon cannot seem to grasp that one cannot put a small, heavy object in a much larger box without adequate fill and expect things to end well. I’ve had to place six orders to get two usable 2 kg weights. The first two boxes arrived without any contents (the weights apparently tore through the boxes in transit); the next arrived, but badly dinged. And with two recent orders, I learned that “a problem occurred with your shipment and we no longer expect it to be delivered”; I think I can guess what happened here. It may be unreasonable to expect a case for a Class M2 weight, but something must be done to afford protection in shipment. Bubble wrap or its equivalent, ecologically objectionable though it may be, is probably needed to prevent the weight from getting dings. And something sturdier than inflatable cushions or a strip or two of flimsy packing paper is needed to keep the weights from shifting and impacting (or rupturing) the boxes. Any major carrier’s website will say as much, but this ought to be self-evident. Time is money, but it seems to me that the four 2 kg weights that were damaged or never arrived would have more than paid for slightly better packing.

Using for Iron Pen Arts!
I actually special ordered the Chin Na 6 dvd set by Master Wing Lam and found out on the "training methods and tools dvd" that iron pen arts were also included on Chin Na training for improving the strength in the fingers to be more affective on acupoints on a human body. All ya need is a dot co and saw off the top and smooth out with a scotch brite pad and the opposite side have a small drill bit and put in a hole and insert a artist brush and when the master's in the Shaolin Temple were not training in a way they still would be in free time with the iron pen because they would only grip it just with 3 fingers tips for the index finger, middle finger and thumb and would draw out hieroglyphs on scrolls every day on there free time to improve the strength in the fingers and you can also use it free style without putting in an artist brush in the bottom and just visualize drawing out numbers, letters, sentences or hieroglyphs. But if you want to customize it then as I said before you will need a dot co and saw off the top and smooth the surface with a scotch brite pad on a dot co 90 degree drill and take a 30 drill pit and insert a hole for an artist brush and improve the grip in your fingers over time with the iron pen arts!!! To see actual instruction you can special order the dvd by Master Wing Lam off his dvd called "Training methods and tools" for Chin Na!! According to legend a master practiced the iron pen arts for years and when a friend of his came over to see him he did not realize the strength in his finger tips and accidently ripped off his long sleeve shirt by practicing Chin Na methods. This is just one art for Chin Na training there is other tools as well off Master Wing Lam's dvd on Chin Na but the most affective way to improve the grip for Chin Na is the Chin Na stones and Masters will work up to 70 to 100 pounds lifts just with there 3 fingers tips on a pinch lift!!! :) I also recommend the 2000gm calibration weight scale for the iron pen arts cause it's a little heavier and you get more fatigued in your fingers when using it for the "Iron Pen Arts"!! :)

Nice Product at a Nice Price
Seems well made. Comes in an a flimsy little 1-mil plastic zip baggie. Keep it in the baggie but store it in a protective container. This is your primary standard, an needs to be kept from physical and corrosive damage. One reviewer measured his at 300.1g and found that acceptable. Actually, it is his scale that is acceptable. To make this clear, you are buying this as your calibration standard. So you now must assume that it is correct. He would use it to calibrate his scale so it reads 300.0, and occasionally recheck it too make sure the scale is still correct. So keep it clean and safe. I handle mine with a tissue so I don't get skin oils on it, but that's just nostalgia for my days doing high-precision work. This item is sold as a Class M2 weight, which is the lowest accuracy grade that is suitable for general laboratory uses. That means that it weighs within 45mg of its marked 300g weight; well within my needs. I must accept that claim, as a weight with official certification would have cost me at least 10 times the price. Using this weight, I found my little Boweike scale read 297.63g out of the box, which is better than 1% accuracy without calibration. But scales drift out of calibration with time or handling--or worse, if someone inadvertently gets it into calibration mode without a proper weight on it. So I will use this weight regularly before each time I want best accuracy. BTW: I chose 300g because that is the weight my scale requires for its ,automatic calibration function.

Works as promised!
When you buy a scale, most (if not all) state they come calibrated to factory specs from the manufacture. However, there are MANY factors that can knock your scale out of spec before you even use it! Having learned the hard way, I decided to buy this calibration weight to keep my scale zeroed into what they should be. TIP: My scale required a 500g weight, check your user manual for the weight(s) needed to calibrate your scale. PROS 1) It's a must have to keep your scale within factory specs 2) It calibrates 500.00g which proves to me it is precise 3) I calibrate my scale often and the weight never fails me SUGGESTIONS FOR CONSUMERS 1) If you want your scale to weigh correctly, buy this weight. 2) Once you receive it do check it over to make sure there isn't any damage to it (some reviews have noted this happening) 3) Center it on your scale the best you can, having it centered will give you the best calibration.

Completely satisfied
First order of this was lost My prior experience with USPS is that they do sometimes take time to deliver a package that is why I did nothing for 2 weeks After 2 weeks waiting, I was not in a rush, I requested and got a credit. They did not have stock to re-ship at that time. 2 days later the stock has appeared on the site and I re-ordered. The package was shipped again by USPS, leaving PA warehouse on Oct 15 It arrived to my house in NJ the same day... Go figure why they could not do it the first time around The item is in perfect condition. The weight on my scale is 5kg, but this was suppose to be used to calibrate this scale and I do not have another more precise and calibrated scale to check its weight, but based on other reviews I am satisfied with the result.
