How long is a pack effective? Thanks

I put these pack in my camper for the duration of my winter storage. The camper was parked in a field near a horse farm. In the beginning of spring when I open the camper there were no signs and any rodents and the camper had a pleasant odor. I can't say for sure if the luck of rodents was due to the packs or perhaps they just weren't there. I will for sure use them again this winter.

We have a dog we camp with, are these too strong of a smell for him?

I'd imagine the smell would be quite potent for dogs with strong noses (beagles, spaniels) if the dog were to be in very close proximity to a freshly opened sachet. However, I put these under seats and in other areas where mice may try to hide. The smell is pleasant and not too strong. This is MUCH safer for dogs than mouse poison.

I camp in my suv. is it feasible to put a bag in the engine compartment when i get to my campsite to ward off any mice that may come along?

Have never put one in engine compartment of my SUV; however, I always put one on garage floor beneath engine compartment. I also mist engine compartment with spray container of peppermint oil (advice of my mechanic). Keep a bag of Fresh Cab in trunk area (plus one bag at front and back of one car garage) as well as tucking Snuggle dryer sheets under floor mats. Have never had rodent issues following these steps even with my SUV often sitting most of the time.
