A great book, truly amazing stories and all the better for being true, of course. Astonishing seamanship, and sheer determination to save lives, the "coasties" deserved a medal and no mistake.

My 10 year old devoured this book. He is a very strong reader, and loves nonfiction, so I think this would be appropriate for most middle schoolers. If you have a lover of adventure stories and/or nonfiction, you can’t go wrong. I am so appreciative of these “young readers” adaptations, which satisfy my kid’s thirst for knowledge and interesting stories.
