I love my Bible- large print and attractive leather-bound. It reads much like the new KGV, except concepts that are difficult to understand are explained in parentheses, and of course, you have exhaustive foot-noting. I find that it's taking me longer to go through Genesis. I have read through the Bible before but wanted a different version to pique my understanding and this version really opened up my desire for inquiry. For example, I found that I had to stop in several places in Genesis to explore on the Internet exactly where the lands that are mentioned are, what peoples inhabited those regions, their customs and their relationship to modernity. I discovered from the Scriptures that Jesus is part Syrian, him having descended from the tribe of Shem, the firstborn son of Noah. Furthermore, I discovered why Noah put a curse on Caanan, the son of Ham, I discovered that through research and reading parts of the Torah, the Jewish Pentateuch. From reading this Bible, I more fully understand the near East, I also searched for the original Eden and the four rivers. From further research, I learned that except for the Euphrates, and maybe the Tigres, the other original rivers might have gone underground (except there is scant evidence) or diverted to India and the regions where the Nile traverses today.This Bible sent me in search of the original Eden. It's amazing, I never thought of it before. I think the large print and the explanations helped me to more enjoy the text and also the substance and quicken my imagination to learn more. I am only in Genesis. I spend time researching where the ancient boundaries lay and try to understand our modern connections to the past. For instance, I am understanding the history of the Arab nations in relation to Israel.
