Decent read
3 and a half stars. It was a decent read, I really liked the characters of Niall and Annie. It’s that long since I read the Campbell series that I can’t remember where Annie and Niall fitted in, which is a shame, nevertheless I did enjoy it.The reason I’ve marked it down is if I actually hadn’t been told it was set in Scotland I wouldn’t have known, it could have been anywhere. This author needs to be aware of how many times she uses terms that are from modern times and wouldn’t have been used in medieval times...I.e ‘I guess’, ‘yeah’ and some other words and phrases, which spoils the reading.I do like Ms McCarty’s books and have read all of the medieval ones. My slight criticisms won’t put me off reading more, I just hope the author pays more attention to not using modern day words.

5 Star Read From A Truly Remarkable Author!
Highland Crossfire by Monica McCartyThis author’s talent of writing is absolutely amazing! Anne and Niall’s story is a beautifully written story that is exciting, adventurous, emotional, and also extremely tragic. Well defined characters were compelling and showed great strength and resilience through their journey of unspeakable violence, angst, and loss due to warring clans. The emotional plot and storyline kept me rooted until the last page. The Romance ranged from sweet and patient to steaming hot flames (4 flame) that will leave a blush.Reading this book is bittersweet because it’s been many years since these books were written and sadly this it is the last book in the Campbell Trilogy!I highly recommend this novella!

Niall and Annie have closure
Good story, thankfully (refreshing for lack of graphic violence) doesn't focus on Annie's attack but rather the before and after, or rather the happily ever after. Thanks Monica McCarty, love ALL your stories.

Muy buena
Todas sus novelas son fantásticas y esta tampoco defrauda. Lastima que pase tanto tiempo entre novela y novela. La espera se hace eterna.

Enjoyed their story.
I love her characters. I really love Monica writing this genre. of course the story is too short because we didn't want it to end yet. I need to go back and read previous books now. I miss those people!Niall loves Annie but not enough to marry her. His immaturity will hurt him the most. Annie must deal with the horror of what happened. And she gets support from an unexpected source.I hope she is not done with the characters in these books. There is so much more going on. I hated to see the book end.

I missed Ms. McCarty historical books, and highland crossword would be one of the many reasons why. I have four stars because Ms. McCarty is an excellent story teller. Please write more from this genre!
I loved this book. As with all of Monica's books, I couldn't put it down. My only complaint is that it was too short. I wish we could have more books from this genre from Ms. McCarty! I have read everyone of her historical series, many times! I have them in my original paperback, as well as on my kindle fire!
