Quality and durable build.
Howdy. I have a very old Royal metal upright I inherited it 10 years ago. I cleaned it up and replaced or refreshed various parts on it including the Brushroll - several times. I never replaced one of the brushrolls due to wearing out (including this part number), but from being dropped, or by an excess of hair and long carpet threads. That was all my fault. The lesson being, replacing a brushroll doesn't mean your job is over. It'll require occasional cleaning and occasional replacing of the belt. And don't drop it down the concrete stairs.Having said all that, I have found this brushroll to be an excellent high quality part for my fancy pants vacuum cleaner. The bearings are smooth and durable. They do not put a load on the motor to any noticeable degree. The bristles are stiff and do a grand job of creating vibration which aids in teasing the soil and sands out of the carpet's napping. I have found this brushroll to be an excellent replacement for the old and discontinued "beater bar" version. The bristles are long lasting as well. I have found that the wood body is cut from only the straightessed grained and strong hardwoods. I have never had the wood fail even when I accidentally dropped the vacuum cleaner and bent the bearings. When you replace a brushroll, it's a good time to throughly clean those portions of your vacuum cleaner that you would otherwise not have access to. This will aid in odor reduction. Look for obstructions in the impeller too (if you have one). And always change the belt at the same time (get the belt tool too). A proper belt installation graphic is on the front cover on my vacuum.Bottom line. This is a great brushroll and it will last you as long as you let it, assuming you do hair and thread removal regularly. For fun facts to know, new throw rugs and area rugs can be huge sources of excess carpet napping, and the heavy gauge threads from stitching the edges. If left clogging the brusholl, it can ruin bearings and put a heavy load on the motor which prematurely wear the motor out.

Brush bar
Not as shown in picture. There were no metal cap ends.

This is 13” long, for a 14” wide vacuum.
It looks like it’s going to fit fine. It doesn’t have metal end pieces. They are wood. If you’re not removing hair and thread from the brushes every time you use it, you’re not doing it right. The brush is not 14” long like the ad says, it’s 13”.

Replacement
These do not last long enough. Made of plastic that looks like metal. Unfortunately I can't find them anywhere else.
