Its smooth. The black lines on the ball are slightly indented. I would compare it to the texture of a handball. I love it! It looks like a real basketball and that was exactly what I wanted.

How many balls come with this price?

It's only 1. I bought it just to find the answer myself. I bought one previously SLIGHTLY cheaper than this one at a dicks sporting goods
