Works well...
The media could not be loaded. I wanted to get a robot vacuum for quite a while but never did. My family and I got a dog a few months ago, and we found ourselves having to vacuum daily (instead of twice a week) in order to keep up with the dog hair...A friend recommend this specific brand. I liked it because it was not too expensive (some cost as much as $550 - https://smile.amazon.com/iRobot-Automatic-Disposal-Empties-Allergens-Connected/dp/B085D45SZF/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=roomba&qid=1616463933&sr=8-4).When I received it, I had to assemble it. It took 2 minutes (literally). I then left it to charge overnight (the first time) and connected it to my wi-fi (using the bluetooth on my phone and the provided application). The next day, I turned on the vacuum and let it roam. It "got lost" a bit the first day as it was mapping my house. Once that was done, it knew exactly where to go and where to vacuum. There are quite a few settings you could change from the app on your phone. For example, you can choose to have a light, normal or strong suction. You can also modify the map to make certain areas off limit to the robot vacuum. That is done very easily by selecting areas on the map (on your phone).Emptying it is very easy. There is one button to push, pull the dirt storage compartment and empty it.Additionally, the manufacturer added one more set of brushes and air filter. This vacuum works very well and goes up and down the carpet or even a thick rug I have with ease (I was surprised about the thick rug - in a very good way).I like and recommend this vacuum robot. I will be getting a second for my upstairs very soon.

Died after 9 Months, LIDAR Failed
Update, just died after 9 months.I've had the Roomba and a few other Brands to compare. It cleans very well, the construction, fit & finish are excellent. The software need serious help, the map management needs a work, extremely buggy. They need to add an option to turn off mapping once you have a good map. The fall detection, does not work at all. The good news is once you have a good map, you can add a no go zone for the map, so I can easily prevent the X580 from getting near the stairs. But due to the software issue, I constantly have to make new maps and deal with the software issue to get the new map to work, so this nullifies the use of the no go use as a permanent solution to their no existent fall protection. I even put a large draft sand bag infront of the stair and the unit just plows right through it. Customer Service responsive but useless. If you want to be around to babysit, it cleans fine, definitely not a set and go vacuum.I sent this to their customer Service, they responded, the next day. They said to return the unit, nothing else, no acknowledgement of any of the issues. or suggestions. So I got a 2nd unit and it performed worse than the 1st unit. It's going back, glad I had not sent back the 1st unit yet.I've had my X580 for a week and I cleaned the dust box. Upon reinstalling the Basic Filter, the plastic broke in 2 places at & under the plastic tab. Could you please send a replacement?I would also like to give you some feedback on my experience in the past week. I am truly impressed with the X580, but there are some issues that could be fixed through software/firmware.-The anti-fall does not work at all, the X580 will go right off the stairs every time.-The map management software has an issue, it is problematic when using stored maps, it oftens times out or fails. I have to make many attempts to get it to work.- Please update your manual to include how to turn on the wifi during set-up, holding down the power button the top of the X580 is not mentioned in the software or in the manual.-I have a feature recommendation, please add an option to turn off mapping. Once I have a good map, I want to disable it from making new maps. If the X580 gets stuck and falls asleep, if I wake it up, it tries writing a new map over the existing map, which results in a bad map and ignores the no go zone. It won't recognize the no go zone in this case (with the bad map) and it will go right off the stairs.I would be happy to provide more feedback around these issues.

Debris pickup has improved significantly.
1 month update: So far, so good. We've had this vacuum a little over a month. We replaced an ECOVAC OZMO 937 with this vacuum when it died after a little more than a year of use. Compared to the ECOVAV:PROS:* I like the ability to select from multiple suction levels. Using highest suction right now.* Suction has improved significantly. Picking up much more debris than initially. Not sure why.* Once I watched the YouTube video on how to connect the vacuum to wifi, it was a piece of cake. The printed instructions did not describe how the reset button works well. The pairing process timed out once but worked when the vacuum was located closer to the wifi router. Pairing was a major problem with the ECOVAC.* The mapping function is far superior to that of the ECOVAC. When the battery runs low, it makes a bee-line straight to the charging dock without a single wrong turn. While it's supposed to vacuum the periphery of a space first and then finish the space with back and forth swaths, it gets distracted by doorways.* The battery lasts more than 90 minutes even on the highest suction level. That is 30 minutes longer than the ecovac.* Lower height allows it to fit under furniture.* The remote is a nice feature if you don't have wifi but it is not a replacement for the app.* Now that they have pushed a software update, the scheduling function works like a charm. Every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. the vacuum deploys. Because I have set the vacuum to two passes, three deployments are required throughout the day to complete the job. As soon as the battery has recharged, the vacuum deploys automatically. Of course, the Dustbin must be emptied in between each deployment.CONS:* The dust bin cleaning process is more involved than for the ECOVAC and needs to be performed more often.* The vacuum gets stuck at the edge or stairs and needs human intervention to get unstuck. Still trying to figure out how to set up virtual barrier. Suspending the automatic deployment while out of town turned out to be trivial. I'll try to post another update as I learn more.
