SOIL SAMPLER WITH FOOTSTEP 36 IN J

I used this at my old job, where it was provided for me. I require this for my new job, but it was not provided, so I had to purchase one for myself. These do the job for soil samples, but there are two limitations: 1. These will bend in clay soils, so you have to be careful not to put too much force on them. 2. Soil can get compressed and stuck in the upper section. There is no real way to clean this out other than take a skinny screwdriver or ice pick type of tool and dig it out.

Right off the bat I was happy with the good packaging. Opened it to find a tool that appeared nicely built and sturdy. It's not a heavyweight but it looks like I'd have to try if I was going to tear it up. Within the first few minutes I had it outside and pulled a soil sample with it. It came out perfect. I can tell this is going to make soil sampling very easy.

Make sure to grab a stick or dowel rod to knock the dirt from the end and you may have some soil pushed up towards the handle but these issues do not affect operation other than to lead to minor contamination if you are testing multiple fields. I am happy with this soil probe and if you are working in soils that are heavy clay you may prefer this probe to others with ejectors as the clay can gum up the ejector. I would reccomend it.

Not the best sampler, but the price is right.

Really made taking soil samples easy on the back. Have used at multiple locations on different types of soils with minimal issues (hard clay being the most difficult). Will be well used.

Heavy duty construction that will last for heavy usage. Sampling in dry & compacted soil was possible by utilizing full body weight. Soil plugs "samples" were easy to remove.

Don’t put too much weight on it or will bend.

Seems simple to use. Only tried on wet soil but seems to work well. Have about 75 ac to pull samples on. Will know how well it holds up when I finish.
