Midnight Smoke: The Firebrand Series, Book 3

Supe detective Emma is about to have a very busy day with multiple supe related incidents taking place in the most visible areas of London. What will she decide to do when her world is shaken, and will she be able to catch the perpetrators before her day comes to an end?Helen Harper has done an amazing job of crafting this, the third installment in Emma's tale. With twists that keep you guessing, it was hard to put down before finishing (stupid work to earn a living getting in the way). It's left me eagerly anticipating Emma's next book and Devereux Webb's. It's hard to know what else to say without giving it away but I will tell you Ms Harper teased this book on her FB page the day before its release with a picture of a certain ground dwelling member of the marmot family from North America.

Midnight Smoke by Helen Harper a five-star read that comes to life like the flames of a fire. This is number three in the Firebrand series and they do follow and build so its best to read them in order, that way you get the best of all the characters. Just when DC Emma Bellamy thinks she is starting to get her feet under her, the wolves have started not fully respecting her, but certainly on the way to it, and Lord Horvath may be another matter but there is certainly warmth there, well on his side anyway, Emma is much too professional, isn’t she? Then we have the mysterious Devereaux Webb, who I am so excited to see gets his own story soon, he has a special place in this chancers heart. But he is only a small cog in what will surely be the longest day of Emma’s life, I loved how we get to see all of the details over and over in some cases, but when you do you see things from different sides and pick up on the tiny details, the clues if you will as to what the real story is, I am proud to say I picked up on one, but one blew me away at the final turn. This has been a great series and I cant wait to see more and find out more about the Firebrand that is DC Emma Bellamy.

This series just gets better and better!Supe detective DC Emma Bellamy is called to reports of a suicidal vampire on top of the London Eye, then to reports of werewolves holding a bus full of humans hostage on Westminster Bridge. Both turn out to be diversions from the robbery of the Supernaturals' Bank (think Gringotts Bank) in which a number of humans and supernaturals were killed. After a disastrous day of chasing leads and getting nowhere, Emma takes a decision that will change things forever.I think this book progresses many of the previous story arcs, except perhaps how she became a phoenix, although even that has some slight progress and the opportunity for something to be uncovered in the next book, it even signals the start of a new spin-off series.Loved it.

Great read as per normal from H.Harper! Great story lines, great main characters namely Emma, and Lucas of course, and the others too didn't disappoint. I ordered the three books as a package and read them easily and unfortunately far too quickly.... Looking forward to the forth installment. Read and enjoy....

After reading this Author for the first time, each book has just got better and better, the characters are fantastic and the story lines are so original they just keep me turning the pages. I'm truly loving these books, highly recommend, exciting story lines, excellent caravans fascinating plots.

Had to sit and read this until end. Even though lovely sunny day. Believable storylines and love that it is set in London. Great characters with vivid descriptions that bring the story alive. Can’t wait to start next story. Thank you Helen Harper

I wasn't sure if I would like this series, by the first couple of chapters of book one, I was hooked. Can't wait to see what happens next, why her Uncle suddenly phoned her, and wonder if her parents were shoes of some kind. Roll on book 4

I’ve been waiting for this book with bated breath. It did NOT disappoint! Full of twists and turns, revelations, who-dunnits and suspense. I read other series while waiting for this book to come out, yet delving back into this series was so easy with an amazing heroine like DC Emma Bellamy. I so can’t wait for the next one!! Pre-ordering that one too as soon as it comes out!!!
