Must have on the bookshelf
I recently was in between jobs and tried my hand at freelancing. Not only is this FULL of amazing REAL situations that I was in, but it guided me out of them in the best way possible. I’ve read lots of books on design and freelance, but they often are more of a self help type. This gives such a clear snapshot of situations, and how he handled it. I’m happy to say it gave me a ton of confidence and life long tips to continue to push through the freelance life, and has led me to a full time role. THANK YOU!

To-the-point Wisdom and advice on jump starting your own venture.
I would've killed for a book like this year over a decade ago when I kicked off my own industrial design services. Michael created a proper how-to to addresses the exact questions myself and many others had/have when thinking about working for themselves. There is incredible value in his words if you are doing things part time, full time or even if you are an employee. Its to-the-point, accurate and more importantly realistic. The reality of working for yourself and making is sustainable is incredibly hard and there is a lot of BS out there. This guide keeps things straight and will help keep you on track as you start off.

Great tool for freelancers who are more creative than business savvy.
I've been a freelance designer for many years, and have seen more and more of my peers go this route as the economy has consistently moved towards the Gig Economy. For creatives, sorting out the business side of your endeavors can be a huge challenge. The most common question I get is, how do i price my work? This book is a great resource for calculating the worth of your work, developing professional and profitable relationships with your clients, and truly managing your work like a business, not a hobby. Even for established freelancers, this is a great resource for ensuring you're maximizing your potential value and efficiency.

Great insights with broad application
This book is filled with practical advice, engaging stories and wisdom based on experience. I was curious enough to get the digital copy so I could dig in right away, liked it enough to buy myself a hardback copy and respect it enough to have bought copies to give as gifts. Easy to absorb and high-value all the way, and its benefits are not limited to freelancers and creatives. If you buy and absorb this book, you will be better off for doing so.

Simple, concise and really easy to put into practice.
You can tell a lot of intention went into writing and editing this book. Where other "Freelance" guides are long winded and filled with fluff, Art for Money gets straight to the point. The chapters provide tactical advice around pricing, getting paid, dealing with clients, how you work and growing your business. I would recommend this book both to seasoned freelancers as well as people just getting started or thinking about going freelance. I was able to put into practice many of the ideas immediately after reading chapters.

Worth Every Penny
This book is a very helpful purchase. It’s a great compilation of tips and tricks, full of advice to take while trying to turn a secondary creative endeavor into a more fiscally productive career. The idea of actively pursuing what you love for money can be pretty overwhelming, but I feel like I can tackle it with more aplomb thanks to this book. The author really "gets it."
