This Makes Life With An Aggressive Dog So Much Easier!
I have a large, EXTREMELY aggressive pomeranian who everyone in my complex is scared of. They don't know his personal story as to why he is like he is, so they constantly give me dirty looks as though I must be doing something wrong. We are working on the aggression through diligent training with the help of a behaviourist, but that takes time.In the meantime, I have come across an issue after moving him down with me to New Orleans from the mountains of NC: There's too much going on for him and he gets overwhelmed very easily. And when he gets overwhelmed, he lashes out and snaps at anything that moves. There are kids, cars, other dogs, stray cat packs, squirrels, drunk people, bikes, motorcycles and SO much more. He is constantly lunging at things trying to attack them. I am overly vigilant whenever we are out, but because of his breed/looks and people's ignorance, my vigilance and control over him isn't always enough.People seem to automatically assume he is a sweet, loving angel because he is small and fluffy. When I tell people "PLEASE do not approach or touch my dog!!! He is aggressive!", they don't listen because of breed stereotypes. They say "Oh, nonsense! Look at how cute he is! Nothing that cute could be mean, isn't that right fuzzy wuzzy baby???" And then they act SHOCKED when he bares his teeth, growls and snaps at them. So far he hasn't bitten anyone outside of family and very close friends, but it happening is a very real possibility. I thought to myself "how can I warn people not to approach or touch him without having to say anything?" I wanted people to know from a distance so even if I couldn't verbally communicate it, they would still know.I remembered seeing a meme of a dalmation with a nervous vest on and thought "Well, they MUST make those somewhere!" So to amazon I went!It came a couple days after ordering (SUPER fast!) with prime and I couldn't have felt more relieved! For some reason, I had a hard time figuring out exactly how to put it on him. The velcro strap in the front of the neck is something you just gotta work with. I think because my pom has so much fur, it made it a little harder than it should have been. The buckle is very thick and very sturdy, as is the material of the vest. I love, love, LOVE the handle on the back because that gives me so much more control if I'm trying to reel him in from lunging at something/someone. The material holds well enough that I could physically pick my boy off the ground (not that I would recommend doing that, but I did to test the it to make sure if I had to pull on it hard that it wouldn't snap). The reflectiveness of it is GREAT for places with lots of cars and it shows VERY brightly in the dark when lights flash on it. And since the written part that says "nervous" are velcro patches, you can put just about anything you want on them! I'm hoping to get the "do not pet" patches so one side can say "nervous" and the other side can say "do not pet".The one thing I don't like about this vest is that it is very boxy and doesn't really conform to the shape of the dog. That may change over time as the material loosens, though. It is very...clunky. Idk how else to put that. My dog is used to having a thin strip harness so putting it on him made him confused, as it was much heavier and thicker. It took him a few times to get used to it.I'm not sure if this is just because it is a little big on him, but it does slip from side to side when the leash is pulling one way or another. It wouldn't come off by any means, but I'm sure it isn't comfortable to have a harness move around as much as this does. Especially with how clunky it is.Like I said, it is a little big on him and that could be why it is sliding from side to side. I got the girth of 19"-25" as the next size down may have been too small. My dog's girth measured around 18.5, closer to 19. I had to adjust the strap to as short as it would go and the velcro strap around the neck is a little loose, but the way it is made is a way that he couldn't slip out of it even if it was super loose. My dog is very scared of velcro, so when I tried to put the neck part on him, he snapped me. I figured out that after you put the velcro together on the front of the neck, you don't have to undo it or whatever and you can just slide it off. So as long as he doesn't hear that velcro sound or feel it peeling off, he doesn't mind it at all!Like I said, it took him a minute to get used to it but now that he has, it is SERIOUSLY the best. People don't just run up on us anymore and parents are more diligent about their kids around us. Other dog owners usually go the opposite direction when they see another dog in the path, but it has made a difference with the few that don't.I'm absolutely in LOVE with this harness. Wish it came in blue. 5/5, for sure.Size Stats (regarding my dog):Breed: PomeranianWeight: ~19lbs (he is a huge pom! Not fat, but large in size)Girth Bought: 19-25"Fit of Harness: Loose, but sturdyA+++ harness. HIGHLY recommend!!!

Perfect harness for big dogs
As a dog trainer, I’m always very picky about the products I use for my dogs and my clients’ dogs. Safety are durability are MUST haves. This harness is perfect! I use it in the car, since it attaches perfectly to his seatbelt. It’s super durable, well-made, and there’s no pressure on his throat at all even if he pulls. The lettering is nice and big, so people don’t come up to him and try to pet him. He hasn’t had any problems with being startled since he started wearing the harness. I love that the letters come off, so it can just be a normal harness as well. The handle is perfect for holding him in place, and you can “lock” the snap for extra durability and security. He’s never backed out of it on a walk or in the car, so I have no complaints. He did back out of it once when I tried to get him in the basement during a tornado—but that has more to do with his fear of the basement than the vest! He loves it, and so do I.

Perfect for anxious pups
I rescue senior and special needs dogs. I rescued this guy a few years back and he tends to be fearful and anxious in certain situations. I’ve been looking for a product that would keep people at a reasonable distance in case they were to catch him at one of these times. (Flowing rivers, other dogs being walked, boats on a lake all really concern him.)This fits him perfectly. It’s comfortable on him, the handle on top let’s me guide him in and out of buildings easily, and it’s reflective so night walks are safer. I was worried he could back out of it just due to its design but he’s never shown an inkling to do so. I’m hopeful he won’t always need it, but honestly it’s so effective as a large dog harness I might continue to use it anyway.

Wish the neck tightened
Works well for my dog. My only complaint is that there's no tightening strap around the neck so that the vest can be more secure. If he wants to, my dog can wiggle out of the vest simply due to nothing stopping him neck-wise.

Perfect for your “nervous” dog
We took my “Nervous” rescue dog on vacation with us and this harness was perfect. Fit well, seemed very comfortable for her and kept people from running up to pet her without asking permission.

My dog doesn’t hate wearing it
This product fits my dog really well. I like that the nervous patch can be removed as I am trying to help him get better, so maybe someday I can put something cute on there instead. I love the reflection straps as he is a black dog. It was fairly easy for me to adjust to his size as well. I haven’t had it long enough, or needed the handle on top, to see if it’s sturdy enough to pull an 80 pound dog, but it seems good.

Good product
The harness fit my dog well. The handle on it comes in handy if he gets antsy when other dogs/people are near. The nervous patches being velcro also works great. Just loses a star because it can be kind of akward to put on proper if you dont know/arent sure what you're doing. Overall very good product and worth the money.

A LIFE SAVER
I'm so glad I purchased this harness. My dog has bad anxiety and when people sneak up and touch her she panics and growls/barks. I haven't had anyone try to touch her since I got this vest, though I get lots of questions! I prefer that over unwanted pets though, and do does my dog! I love that it's reflective and even after growing and extra 20lbs it still fits my dog perfectly. (She is now 52lb)
