How Sweet It Is by Dylan Newton
How Sweet It Is by Dylan NewtonContemporary romantic comedy.Kate loves her spreadsheet details. It keeps her organized and on time for her Events business. Meeting her new client, Drake, has chaos reigning and unexpected results.Drake has been struggling to write his next horror novel. Kate’s unexpected interruptions in his life wakes up his creativity in writing. Having her in his house wakes up other appetites too.Captivating. Watching the romance grow was delicious.I’m now on the hunt for more by this author.Excerpt:“Kate.His mind still whirred with the electric zing of their first encounter. His fingers itched to be on the keyboard, capturing the details while they were still fresh and visceral. He remembered the smooth heat of her upper thighs, the floral scent of her hair, the way her eyes gazed up at him like he was some sort of superhero, when all he’d done was pick her up out of the mucky grass so she wouldn’t break an ankle. He recalled his sense of awe when he’d come around after passing out and found himself on top of her. The feel of her silky auburn hair in his hands, the sprinkle of freckles across her nose, the way she looked up at him, her green eyes wide—all of it had goosed his muse into overdrive. He wanted to start typing. He knew exactly what to do now with his hero when he first meets the woman he’s to marry. He’d write about how they literally ran into each other; the plot device allowing for forced intimacy, bringing his characters together faster…”Excerpt from How Sweet it is by Dylan NewtonI received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

5 Sugar-coated Stars for How Sweet It Is!
In romance it's all about the characters! How Sweet It Is centers on the charming and memorable Kate Sweet, a buttoned-up, spreadsheet toting wedding planner with a reputation for perfection, and Drake Matthews, the Knight of Nightmares, a renowned horror writer.Could any two people be more opposite?Kate loves sugar, sprinkles, sweet treats and Happily Ever Afters. Drake? Not so much. While he pens his shivery stories in a mausoleum of a mansion, a family home he occupies but can't really call his own, she flits from town to town, creating the "Awww moments" that seal the deal for her expertly planned weddings. When Kate oversees the next book launch for the Knight of Nightmares, things go terribly wrong. Stabbing stilettoes, creepy crypts, harrowing hijinks, and more seem to doom the launch and the couple's relationship from the beginning. How will Kate create an unforgettable event for Drake? Will he learn to trust again after all the betrayals from previous girlfriends?I loved this book from beginning to end! The characters are realistic and loveable; the juxtaposition of romance and horror is fascinating; and the plot is fast-paced and fun.You don't want to miss this deliciously adorable rom com.

Great characters and great story!
*Selected for ARC honest review*This book is amazing! The characters were relatable, loveable and flawed in the right ways. The story was so much more than just a cliche romance it was a story. It wasn't just about two characters that wanted to just rip each others clothes off they got to know each other letting us as the reader get to know them as well. Which to me makes the story realistic but still a great escape. While reading this you can tell the author did her research but didn't bog you down with facts that didn't matter in the story.I have read books by this author before and she normally writes paranormal romance (which I love!) So I was very curious how she was going to go from the queen of paranormal to the queen of happily ever after rom-com style and let me tell you...she delivered and is worthy of the happily ever after crown!taking her "ahhhh" books to "awwww" books was perfect! Each chapter left you wanting more, which explains why I got this book on a Monday and finished it by Wednesday.I already pre- ordered this book as well because it is a must have in my library

Such a “sweet” read!
I can’t adequately put into words how much I loved this book, but Netgalley provided me an ARC to do just that, so I’ll try my best. What happens when a sweet, hyper-organized event planner puts together a Halloween book launch for a horror writer known as the Knight of Nightmares? You get a book that’s the perfect blend sweetness and humor with a little spookiness and a lot of swoon.Event planner Kate seemed to have chaos constantly following her throughout the book, and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I even caught myself saying an, “Oh, Kate” out loud. And the hero, Drake Matthews, had such a warm and protective quality to him, he was like a warm cup of cocoa personified. This book had me dreaming of sweater weather and pumpkin spice lattes, and the scene descriptions were so beautifully written, I could almost feel the chill in the Fall air as I read Dylan Newton’s words. If you’re looking for a book that will make you smile, do yourself a favor and read this one. I’m already looking forward to a second read when it gets closer to Fall. Thanks again to Netgalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved this book!
*Received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. What a delightful read! There were just enough twists to keep me guessing and characters that I was genuinely routing for to find happiness in the end. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next! This book is a fun read and so much more! For someone who does not always read romantic comedies, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I was invested in the character’s relationship. The hero, heroine, and secondary characters were compelling, smart, and likable. I enjoyed all of the humor blended with an intriguing courtship. Perfect if you’re looking for an enjoyable read that keeps you turning the pages.

Truly excellent!
This is my first Dylan Newton novel, and I really loved it!I started out having bought an Amazon deal, followed by getting it on Audible and re-started, then read (listened to) the whole thing in a single day - loved it! Great new-to-me narrators.Kate Sweet is such a quirky, lovable, real character. I could definitely relate to her. Drake Matthews was a dreamy horror writer having an existential crisis and writers block, all related to his writing - what he writes and what he wants to write. Meeting Kate helped him trigger a writing spree in a new genre, and sets in motion some interesting events connected to that, while she was planning an event for the launch of his next new horror release and connected movie. They are a great match and the chemistry between them, the hilarious story and all of the fantastic shenanigans that arise are just a perfect mix. I can’t wait to read more from her - a great new author find with a promising career!
