VitaCause krill oil formulated with K*REAL* krill and contains astaxanthin. I am not sure what is special about the K*REAL* krill, but astaxanthin is a keto-carotenoid found in krill and other fish. In fact, it is this compound that gives shrimp and salmon flesh its red color. Astaxanthin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, so its use as a dietary supplement may be benefit those with cardiovascular, immune, inflammatory or neurodegenerative disease. There is also some preliminary evidence that astaxanthin has an anti-aging effect. This is in addition to the positive effects of EPA and DHA.The krill oil was manufactured in the US in a GMP facility. A lot number and expiration date is stamped on the bottle. There are 60 capsules in the bottle. There is no mention as to whether the capsules are manufactured in a facility with soy, dairy, peanut and gluten, etc. The capsules contain shellfish [obviously] and gelatin. The recommend dose is 2 capsules which contains 1,000 mg krill oil, with 60mg EPA, 40mg DHA and 200mg astaxanthin. The capsules are the usual small peanut size for krill oil supplements and smell very fishy in the bottle. The smell doesn't bother me, it just means I am getting what I paid for. They are easy to swallow and I don't get fish burps from other supplements, so I can't say if these are better or worse in that regard.Having done a lot of research on krill vs. fish oil, I have switched exclusively to krill oil to lower inflammation to help with my fibromyalgia. It is too hard to consume enough fatty fish regularly to get therapeutic doses of EPA/DHA. This krill oil touts the presence of astaxanthin, however, I think all krill oil supplements contain at least some astaxanthin, as evidenced by their red color.I purchased this product at a discount for my honest opinion.

Shipping was fast and product received was as described. The label is informative and the ingredients list has no red flags. I personally like these krill oil pills over standard fish oil pills, not only does krill oil have better benefits bit the size of the pill is smaller ( easier to swallow if you're 'bad' at taking pills.The product seems fresh and I have experienced no after taste. Considering that I've been taking fish oil and krill for years it can be difficult for me to tell if they are truly working. In the past I have had some pain in the neck after I had lapsed on getting my krill oil and the pain/inflammation was reduced upon taking these pills a few days, so I believe they are indeed helping.I purchasedan this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review
