LEGO Elves Skyra's Mysterious Sky Castle, 41078

It is a bit sad, actually, but I have not really sat down and played with legos in probably close to a decade now. Alas, no, it was not for me that this was purchased but rather, for my baby sister. It was her 9th birthday, gift. I do not know how much value there is in the endorsement of a 9 year old, but this LEGO Elves box, got it. My sister build the thing twice, and played with her friends and other lego elves builds as well as random ones she built with my mismatched old legos. Apparently there is an actual story behind these legos, and these girls know it, and they are acting it out with their lego characters, and then making up brand new stories of their own. After a few weeks, when all her friends had fun with it, she took it apart again and started using the pieces with all her other legos to build her own castles. Seeing how much fun she has been getting from this set, and probably will continue getting for as long as she plays with LEGOs, makes it certainly worth 5 stars.

Love this set, it is attractive to girls without stuffing pink and flowers down their throats. Great book series to go with it and inspire imagination and creativity. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it's not quite as "big" as it would appear (or that you pay for). Having many other lego sets, I can say that usually the big sets are quite impressive when finished. This didn't quite live up. However, my 9 year old loved it and is having a blast mixing and matching with other sets to create her own designs. The elves theme is giving her so much scope for the imagination and she's been able to create the designs provided on her own without assistance. Good job Lego, just wish it was a little bit "more".

Upon the initial opening of the product box I was pleased to see a bunch of separate bags numbered individually.Thinking that the building process would be a breeze with it like this, I sat down with my daughter and started reading the building book I quickly realized that even though the bags were numbered, the parts that were to go with that section of the castle were not in bag they were supposed to be in. We were missing 1 Lego and ended up with about 15 extra very small Lego pieces.because of this, I only give 3 stars

It's LEGO. It's Elves. My daughter is on cloud nine. She built this immediately upon arrival after quickly finishing her homework. ;) Then proceeded to play with it for weeks, inviting all of her friends over to play with it as well. Beautiful set with a lot of detail in it. There were a few places that she struggled with during assembly (7 years old) but after talking her through, she worked it out. "I did it!" Another LEGO win!

I love this! It's beautiful. My kids and I love Legos. I did think it would be a little bit bigger... that's why I took away 1 star. We watched the Lego Elves movie on Netflix which helped my kids get into the the story and really added to playing with it. Watch the Lego Elves.
