Easy to install, motion sensor is great, light is definitely bright.
So, we got this to put on the patio covering the front door entrance to out town home. We wanted a light that would shine on the door so we could see the lock. We already have a patio light but it on the houses wall and this alcove doesn't get the light. The product we we received we were impressed by.The light itself is roughly the size of a softball that can rotate a round. It has 8 LEDs that are very bright and 1 motion sensor that works wonderfully. On the back of the light there's a cap to remove where you need to install 4 C batteries that DO NOT come with the package. The light stays on 30-45 seconds and them goes off. It's sensor senses warm bodies not just movement thus it's not catching false alarms do to the wind. There is no on or off switch to the light however they do recommend to "turn off" roll the ball light so the sensor and light face inward toward the plastic casing/mounting piece. The softball size lighting thing is fixed into a bracket/mount piece that swivels. It has a wall mounting plate attached to the back and comes with two screws to attach it. They recommend keeping it out of direct rain if possible as the batteries/terminal/connection could become damaged.Anyways, the product doesn't exactly what we wanted and now guests that come and need to use the lock box to retrieve our house let can read the numbers. And I can even see the door nob where to insert my key. Over great price and great product. I'd buy more!

Very nicely made, very easy to set up and very useful.
So easy to set up. I have about 8 of these. Not all bought through Amazon. Luckily one of the local home improvement stores had these as a trial. Too bad they are gone. I'll be ordering more from Amazon. So convenient and nice looking. The lights are nice and bright (led's) and no wiring required. For years I have been asking for lights outdoor and now finally!! And, they are motion activated which is better than on all the time because then you know if they are on, something or someone walked by the light and you can investigate. I might buy some as gifts for the holidays. At least this is useful not something that collects dust. I bought the other kind which is black also to compare- ugly and not easy to set up.

Don't waste your money / time.
Well, I thought this LED light was going to work perfectly for my needs.. but now, after 2 months, the device is completely dead.(all remarks and tests were done while using fresh/checked batteries). The first month of use (Jan-2013), the device would flicker randomly as if one was toggling a light switch. (note: no rainfall)The second month of use, the device continued to flicker, and then twice it stopped working. I had to unplug and let it sit 24 hours to get it operational again. (note: one slight drizzle)The third month, I noticed that it just would turn on properly when the PIR was triggered. ie very weak and/or no light output. (note: one rain storm)Then it completely died. Finally, I traversed the side of the building and removed the light. Having blown through any 30-day warranty, I decided to take the light apart and see if there was something that I could fix. After I opened up the ball-housing, I found the main circuit board to be completely corroded inside. Now, if I lived in the tropics, and had this been out in the open where downpours could regularly drench the device.. maybe I could see it having this problem. However, the light was mounted under an overhang of a shed. It was completely covered from above and was a mere two inches down from the overhang. Plus.. in the 2.5 month timeframe that it was mounted, it only rained twice. Once a very light drizzle, and lastly an average rain. So, I can not recommend this device at all. I hope this helps potential buyers.

Nice looking porch lamp, good light output, easy install
My house has a front porch with an overhanging roof. It has a standard porch light on a switched circuit, controlled with a timer. Problem is, during the Summer, the porch light is on to let me see the keys and keyhole when I get home at various hours, but it also attracts a swarm of bugs around the porch. Spiders make huge webs to catch the bugs. Soon I can't get in or out of the front door without needing to pick bugs off my clothes, out of my hair, and pulling webs off my face.It is hard to rewire the existing porch light fixture with extra unswitched wires to operate a standard AC powered motion sensing porch lamp. Enter the Fulcrum motion sensing porch lamp. This mounted quickly and easily with two screws. The screws work into wood, vinyl siding, and metal siding. The screws also come with plastic expanding anchors so you can put the screws into drywall and masonry and similar surfaces. You could easily use your own mounting hardware as well. The screws simply mount a circular base plate to the wall or overhang ceiling. The lamp itself slips into a fixture molded onto the center of the base, so the whole lamp can rotate 360 degrees on the base plate. The lamp assembly consists of the lamp globe and its swivel bracket. The globe can rotate 360 degrees in the swivel bracket, so between the rotations of the bracket and the base, the globe can ultimately point in any direction, including back into its own base. There is enough friction to both rotations that the globe is likely to remain in position unless you lay hands on it.If you rotate the globe so that the 6 LED light source aims back into the base, it exposes the hatch for the batteries, which is located on the back side of the globe. With the lamp pointing in any useful direction the swivel bracket will cover the battery hatch, hiding it from view and adding an extra degree of protection from the elements. The battery hatch unscrews using a large recessed grip (no tools required), and it has a rubber gasket to keep the battery compartment dry. Some other users have commented that moisture got inside the battery compartment. To me, it looks like the gasket is probably adequate to keep out most moisture as long as the hatch is screwed in all the way, nice and tight. But it also seems to me that this whole area could be a bit more robust, better assuring that the gasket is fully compressed for best water tight functionality. This is why I did not give the lamp 5 stars. The front of the globe has the array of 6 super bright white LEDs, and they are bright enough that it hurts to look directly at them. It is like a powerful flashlight. Next to the LEDs is the bump containing the light sensor and motion sensor. The motion sensor automatically turns on the LEDs when it senses any activity in the general area that would be illuminated by the LEDs. The light sensor prevents the LEDs from turning on if there is enough ambient light from other source, whether that is the sun, other lights in the area, or possibly your car headlights. The manufacturer warns that the lamp will still allow the LEDs to turn on if there is a certain amount of ambient light, but you should do a couple tests before permanently mounting the light, in order to find an location and aimed direction that gets the light where you needs it, while also properly activating on motion and ignoring any ambient light sources you might have. In my case, with the lamp mounted up over the front door, which is on the porch five steps up from the driveway, the car headlights do not prevent the LEDs from coming on.The LEDs turn on immediately when I walk up to the door from the outside, or walk out the door from the inside. They stay on as long as I remain on the porch, and turn off 30 seconds after I leave that area. The light is a glaring bright cone, and while not pleasant for long periods, it does the required job, allowing me to avoid fumbling in the dark for my keys.I plan to buy a few more of these, since they would work well in closets that don't have lights, and perhaps in an otherwise unlighted crawlspace.Since in most cases the LEDs will not be on for very long, I expect that the batteries will last a long time, since C cells hold quite a bit of charge.

Super lights!
Awesome lights! I bought two locally but now they are no longer stocked in stores but good old Amazon had them! The price is great and free shipping (arrived in 3 days!) makes it a no brainer to buy at Amazon. I just bought 5 more as they are awesome on my rural property to light up my paths and around my barn. My original two Fulcrum lights have worked perfectly outside for two years. I highly recommend these for bright light and reliability. Your could almost read with them because they are so bright! Well worth the money and battery life is good. I need to change batteries on my gate light about twice a year but it goes on every time a car or person goes by our gate.
