NETGEAR Orbi Outdoor satellite WiFi extender (RBS50Y) - Discontinued by Manufacturer

after trying a few other products, this is the only one that managed to cover my full 2 stories house with no gaps in any rooms.. I needed to install one router plus 3 satellites in order to maximize the coverage and cover all the wholes, but after that it's been working perfectly for more than a year. Also with as many satellites, all rooms have strong coverage with very good speeds. Only issue is it's one of the most expensive options in the market, but amazing quality and installation is super easy following the steps on their application.

I have tried all the possible methods to make this work, but it never worked, it just does not sync with the router. The satellite never shows up on the network. Don't buy this unless you can return the product. I am struggling to return the item, I requested a return on 27th September 2021 and till date, the product has not been picked up for return. I don't understand whom to contact to understand the status of the return pickup and why is it delayed.

I got the item on time but there was nothing showing the voltage in the instructions paper ! The adapter got burned as our voltage is 220! And now im just searching for adapter for it!

Extremely overpriced very difficult to set up. Very slow app. Highly not recommend. Buy something cheaper at least in a year or two you can upgrade rather then getting stuck with an expensive piece of plastic

I greatly prefer this item to the much larger, free-standing counterpart. The great mobility, size, range and effectiveness is hard to overstate. Every mesh satellite should be aspire to this one.

This is a little expensive up front but it works remarkably well, my kids love it and commented on improved coverage (before I even told them it was in operation). I’ve been in IT for ~25 yrs now and this is an excellent solution for home/small office use cases. I already had the Orbi system (RBR50,RBS50) for many reasons (their paid managed firewall service add-on is money well spent FYI) but mostly the system has wireless and wired backhaul options, 5 eth ports per device (no this sat) and easy mobile device management. The Orbi system is the BEST WiFi system I’ve ever used outside of corporate America high dollar enterprise class systems. This add-on outside-rated satellite actually sits inside my house behind a TV near an exterior wall and still pushes over 75MB/s (not mbit/s) to all corners of a 1 Acre property that’s half wooded. This is as good or better than enterprise coverage for a fraction of the price. Some reviews have noted water entry on the power cable port - this aspect appears very well built but again it works well enough with the unit inside the house so why chance water entry at all ?? If you need larger coverage you could easily protect it with a small enclosure (18”W x20” L x 6-8” D) would protect it (under eves on a house, barn or well pump structure etc.) so you would t have to think about it. This solution works well with a litany of real world devices incl. various generation iPads/iPhones/android devices, printers, cameras etc.

The Orbi network system is excellent for great wifi over our large house (about 135 feet end to end). I have a main router (near one end of the house), a wireless satellite about 50 feet from the main router, and a wired ethernet satellite about 100 feet from the main router. (in a finished room above a detached garage). Both satellites are Orbi voice supporting Alexa/Amazon services. I purchased the second satellite 2 months after the first. Setup was straightforward, but I had to try a couple times to get the satellites to be recognized. Once connected, they reconnect perfectly after a power outage or cable outage, or if I move one of the satellites to the party room. The backend mesh is seamless; and does not appear to affect the streaming, gaming, video conferencing and regular work that goes on around here. My only disappointment was when my son asked if it had bluetooth (not a service I often use), and it doesn't. The speakers are good, and I use Amazon Music through them, and enjoy the result, so it seems bluetooth wouldn't be that much of an add-on for the otherwise excellent network service these devices provide.Nonetheless, after using this system for 4 months now, I give the ORBI a 5 star rating, since bluetooth was not on my original requirements list, and it performs very well; even better than I expected.
