Unisex's Flipreel, Yellow, One Size

A friend had this when we when hiking. Was able to fish at the camp ground. Got one and love it. Takes a little time to get the hang of casting but works n ell. Have this and a an altoids tin with extra hooks . sinker, lures and such. Great lightweight fishing option.

I love my new reel. Great compact product that I can keep in my pack so I can fish when ever I feel like it.

I got this so I could fish off the coast from my kayak. What distinguishes this hand reel from others is a silicone lip that folds over the line, lure/hook, and sinker making for super easy transport/storage and an ergonomic grip.This thing easily fits in my pfd front pocket with my marine radio and PLB, so it can be securely stored in heavy surf, rolling the boat, etc.Size is convenient. However, since many whiskey and day hatches are 6", it would probably be nice if the reel were just slightly smaller than that (e.g. 5 3/4") to expand storage options. It would also be nice if the outer rim were smooth as line doesn't want to spool out as easily as it should which is a minor nuisance in deeper water.Overall, a solid product well suited for what I need it for.

I love the flip mechanism of this reel. It keeps my sabiki bait fish rig ready to use but safe from my very helpful dogs. I have helped get a fish hook out of my neighbor dog's lip so I know how important it is. Safety with cool, bright colors. Will buy again

This is a great concept with flawed execution. I love the design, quality materials, that it packs down small and the fold-over feature for storage, but every attempt to cast is met with the line and hook flinging back at me. Wetting the bell as outlined by the directions doesn't do any good as the water beads right off the rubber/silicone, and the light texture of the bell doesn't seem to help. I've used yo-yo reels previously with no such problems. It's a great idea that needs refining due to this design flaw. If you're just looking to drop the line over the side of a boat, bridge, or dock, this will work fine for you, but don't count on casting. I'm hoping for a version 2.0 that solves this because I really want to like it but can't recommend it as this point.

I took this product to a lake near high Sierra to try it out before including it with my usual backpacking gear. Casting any distance off the shore line was definitely not going to happen straight off the reel even though the bevel of it looks like it could be done. The silicone material is just too sticky to allow any smooth feeding of line. What I ended up doing is stretching my arms out and accumulating a loose pile of line careful set at my feet before tossing my line in. Because of the heavy weight used to cast I was able to get the line out a comparable distance to a normal rod and let that sink to the bottom of the lake as I fed more line in. Letting my hooks and power bait float a few feet of the bottom worked well for the trout that day. I do believe this would work even better in small creeks and streams where you can actually see the fish take the bait to set the hook because the weight being so heavy I had a few little guys stealing my bait without ever moving the line enough to move the weight.The size and pack ability are next to none. The silicone cover allows me to keep one setup ready to go and simply cover it so nothing snags on the hooks in my pack.Once I try in a creek or stream I will have to update this review.

I have bought 2 of these. The first one was for my 11 year old son who loves to fish and the Second one was for his friend. They both love them! Great accessorie for camping when you don’t want to bring a huge pole!

Very disappointed in this product.No matter how much weight I tied on, the line would not unspool from the reel when I cast it. As soon as the slack ran out, the line would grab the silicone rubber bell and snap back. This happened even if I wet the bell beforehand. It was actually a little dangerous as the weight came straight back towards me just as fast as it had been going out. Fortunately for me, I was just practicing so there were no hooks on the line yet. The only way to get any length on my cast was to first unspool the line and let it lay on the ground around my feet. You can imagine the mess that makes.It's too bad because I really liked that the bell would cover the tackle when folded back over, which would keep hooks and lures from snagging in my pack. Oh well.

It was actually a lot better than expected. I really like this product.
