Very Disappointed
I really, really wanted to love this book. I've read all of the others and enjoyed them very much and suggested them to friends. I ordered this one and waited for it with great anticipation, and I could not be more disappointed. This feels so "phoned in" to me. I love these characters, but this is the same old story from the past two books. There has been no personal or magical growth here. For Althea to be so conscientious and rule-oriented about her Taro readings you would think there would be some forward movement in her magical skills. This left me completely frustrated at the end. It wasn't even entertaining from the other characters viewpoints, very predictable with nothing new. Althea has become too whiny, way too bumbling and stayed too emotionally stagnant for someone of her age. I've been waiting for you to introduce her parents. They sound like they could be very interesting characters and add a lot to the story line. You could give us more about Luna and how she came about her magic, and Miss Elva could be a series all her own. A million different things could have started in this book, but they didn't. No more Tequila for me - sorry.

What a delightful surpprise
Having read everything that Tricia O'Malley has written I have to say that this book threw me for a complete twist! In true Althea Rose fashion the story is one that had me laughing, crying and yes even grossed out. Trace and Althea are back in "friend"style but I hope it will blossom again. Cash well Cash is back in the skeptic roll and not too sure how or if he wants to deal with magic. Miss Elva and Luna are on hand to help find the one who is grave robbing and calling spirits from the other realm. We can't forget the ever present Rafe and Rosita floating in the background waiting to help or just to insult the living.Absolutely delighted with Seven Deadly Tequilas!!

Disappointing. Redundant.
Disappointed in the redundancy of retelling the reader about Althea's life and all the other character's lives. It's not like a reader is going to start reading a series with the 8th book. I was so tired of Althea's childish, whiney behavior. By the 8th book, she should have grown up and acted like an adult. I was done with Rafe the pirate ghost. The banter between him and Althea's was beyond boring. I'm finished with her inability to choose either Cash or Trace. She continues to use and hurt them both over and over. The only good part of the book was learning more about the magikal world of white witches.

"Romance" novels
The author is very good at developing her characters, paints a very graphic view of the story environment, and is quite entertaining. BUT, she tends to dwell on the descriptive details of the female character's response to sexual stimulation. The novels are very well written, but a little too heavy on the sex. The first few books were entertaining to read, but soon become a spiral down the drain. The more you read, the less you want to read. I had high hopes to discover golden tales, but find myself seeing female tails. Not my objective.

Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery/urban fantasy series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Althea Rose is a psychic/witch who owns with her best friend Luna a tarot/potions shop in a little town called tequila key in the Florida Keys. She thought she was only psychic but recently found out that she also has powers of a witch. Her friend Luna is a white witch and they own a small shop together. They also have a knack of being smack dab in the middle of every weird crime and murder going on in the area. One way or the other they’re going to be involved in finding out who done it or someone thinking they did it. They also have a neighbor who is a voodoo queen who happens to be tagging along most of the time. Redone and enjoy the adventure.

Still love the series but....
This is a fun series and I mostly love it, but Althea is really getting on my nerves. She never learns from her experiences and doesn't seem to even care that she keeps screwing up. She just blithely goes on her way and it never occurs to her to put in some real effort t.o improve. But aside from her lack of maturity I love the series and the other characters except maybe Cash. Hank is definitely a great perk.

Althea!
As usual, funny and enjoyable, the cast of characters is back and in their usual places. I was disappointed as this book Seven was too short. I had hoped Cash or Trace would be in Althea's life a little more!

Another great read
Althea Rose lives in Tequila Quays in Florida and makes a living by doing tarot readings. You see, Althea is magical, she can see and speak to the dead. Abbas her own shop which she co owns with her best friend Luna who is a witch. There is also Miss Elva an amazing character who is a teacher and guide for Althea. Trouble of the magical kind always seems to find Althea and she is busy coming to terms with the changes in her life after she finds out she is something of a witch herself, but one with no training and no clue as to what she is doing. Luna and Miss Elva are on hand to help and try to steer her in the right direction but with Althea enthusiasm and good intentions only to so far. Something always seems to go wrong when she gets to try using magic, usually with disastrous results. This book sees the three ladies dealing with a spate of grave robberies in town. Someone is digging up graves and stealing the corpses, what for the ladies have no idea. But whoever is robbing the graves is getting bolder so they need to work it out, quickly. Love the characters in these books also enjoy the rich vein of humour that runs through them as well.
