PureGuardian Humidifier Demineralization Filter, Cartridge 1, Prevents Release of Minerals, Lasts 1000 Hours, White, FLTDC

I used to have one in my humidifier and then I tossed it because it was old. I started using distilled water so it didn’t matter but am now using the humidifier more and buying distilled water is getting costly so I went back to using this. I use filtered water but it still has a lot of minerals in it. This must work because I’m having no residue. I bought the previous one once because I had a lot of the white, dusty residue. This stopped it. It works well and I certainly recommend it.

I've been using these since shortly after getting my humidifier which was probably close to 10 years ago. I need winter humidification and I have pets which can complicate the air and be hard on even "appliances." I replace this every 2 months in mine (during seasonal use) and it has eliminated any white dust and even that musty odor that can develop. Also use the aquafier sticks in the tank and replace those monthly.

I own a pureguardian™Ultraonic Humidifier H4500. I was using tap water and noticed an accumulation of white dust on many plastic surfaces around the house including the dvds inside the player. I switched to distilled water and the problem went away. I ordered this decalcification filter in hopes that I would save money from buying distilled water. I installed the filter as resumed the use of tap water and the white dust problem came back just as before. I am returning the filter as is does not work at all. I have found that the "Water Filling" machine at my local wal mart uses reverse osmosis which works great in the humidifier as it does not produce any white dust, and the price per gallon is extremely reasonable.

Helping to eliminate dust.

Have owned a H4610 for 2 years and utilized primarily in winter to add humidity during dry months. Regular weekly cleaning to reduce hard white scale buildup on bottom of tank and water line is my issue caused by hard well water. After purchasing and installing the filter, the unit has run continuous for a week. Zero white scale build up. Minimal build up on ultrasonic disc also. I will even go on a limb and say I have noticed a decrease in the amount of water unit is using. This will work and perform well on H4610 unit. This will now be an added component to my unit.

I've had these humidifiers for over 10 yrs but this was my first purchase of this. Well as stated 1000 hours if ran 24/7 is just 41 days that's pricey for what it does. Put cold water in canister to help keep mold down. Adding warm will make pink stuff accumulate. Like others have said after about 30 days this thing starts smelling really fishy and they stated to not clean it. I did soak it in vinegar and it did not help the stench at all. If I have to replace this every month for $20 it seems totally not worth it. I run this in the winters in NC so for about four months. I can’t see buying $60 worth of filters for a $80 humidifier. It surprisingly works, but at what cost. And if you run distilled water, you won’t have any white dust at all, but that is super pricey.

BIG DIFFERENCE USING FILTER AND SUPER EASY TO INSTALL. GOES SCREWS INTO THE LID. I PUT A TINY BIT OF WHITE VINEGAR IN THERE ALSO - BUT SURE IF YOUR SUPPOSE TOO.

I took a chance, and this filter was the right size for my Venta sonic humidifier (the big one with the blue clear plastic tank). This is great, because the Venta filters are no longer made.

Been using it since December (2+ months). No more white dust on everything (and the water in my area is extra hard!). It says it requires replacement every 3 months, so I'm hoping I can pull a full season out of it.

The design of the filters have changed and these are different than the old style filters in a few ways. With the old ones shortly after turning on my humidifier, it would trigger my air purifier to cycle on and off because of the white dust released by the humidifier and would do so the whole time I had it on. There was also a light film of dust on the furniture after a couple of uses but nothing compared to not using a filter at all. They would last a few months though which is good based on their price. With these newer versions, my air purifier did not get triggered at all the first 3-4 uses and had no white dust issues at all so they seemingly work better. HOWEVER.....after 3-4 uses my purifier started to cycle on and off indicating dust was coming from the humidifier but the worst thing was the GROSSEST STINK filled my house. Its as if dirty fish tank water and hot cat pee had a baby. Honestly, a filter should last longer than 3 days and should NEVER EVER emit such a foul stench. Not sure how they changed these filters besides the design, but they desperately need to start from scratch. Needless to say I will NOT be repurchasing these EVER but will look for the floating ball style ones from any other company instead.
