Underrated Duo
It's been 23 years or so and yet this recording remains listenable. A solid duo recording without the excesses of some duo recordings where, in order to exhibit virtuosity, times get ragged or things get frenetic and irrelevant. This recording exhibits no such excesses. Instead the song is the thin here. Subtlety, space, ambience and melody. It's a beautiful recording. Yes, languid. Yes, quiet. Ross Traut is an underrated guitarist who obviously, finds the most direct way to communicate the feeling of the song. He improvises nicely but never to excess Steve Rodby has a way of playing that shows why he has been vital in many of the great recordings he has been on. He lends support and pacing without ever overpowering the songs."I Love You Porgy/Bess, You Is My Woman, Now", "People Make The World Go Around", "Some Other Time", "Downstream", "Desert Air" and "Fall" are real high points. My one regret is that I got this recording on cassette and it's a wearing down and of course the media is considered obsolete. I wish that this were available digitally or CD at least.

Still in the collection, getting play
This CD tandem (along with the Great Lawn) CD is one of my standby albums for pure relaxation. Rodby is known for his work with Pat Metheny. I think I like these ones for their uniqueness. There's not a whole lot of guitar / bass jazz CDs out there (at least that I am aware of). Anyway, a shout out of positiveness to these gents for making some good sounds.

Never gets old.
I wish these artist had done more projects together. I'm a big Pat Metheny fan so I was very familiar with Steve Rodby but these recordings are special in their own right. Amazing sound from only two individuals. Well worth the investment for true artistry!

One of the Best Guitar/Bass Albums of All Time
It's been almost twenty years since this album was made, and it is still full of wonderful surprises. Rodby, Pat Metheny's upright bassist for many years, cut this album in Chicago with a guitarist I'd never heard of, Ross Traut. It ranks up there with Metheny's Missouri Sky. Give it a listen. It is a minor masterpiece.

Spent ages trying to get hold of this fine album since the mid 1990's after hearing it on Jazz FM. Really pleased when I located it on amazon - not as an over-priced import but as a reasonably priced and affordable CD.
