Roughneck ROU68046 Serrated Edge Shovel 1070mm/42"

This is an excellent buy. I've never owned a tool of this brand before but am now converted.It's a sturdy solid spade with a good sharp point and the seated edge cuts through old crusted mud, grass edge and roots so easily.It's a heavy spade but not overly heavy that it's unmanageable. I have fibromyalgia and super sensitive joints because of it, using this spade didn't aggravate the pain.Size is perfect for me, I'm 5'6 and there isn't any stooping.Design is very good. All the pieces are welded on super strong. I cannot see any weak points on inspection.I used it a couple days after it arrived, it went straight into the mud I've struggled with using a standard spade. The border is congested with thick roots but this made short work of them too.Functional and fairly priced.

Very strongly made and fairly heavy compared to other shovels, this was bought to make digging in hard soil easier. So far it has made very short work of digging a large shrub out of the ground, and it has also proven itself in harder clay soil. The serrated edge really does cut through roots, even if you have to hit them two or three times. It was easier using this than our flat spade which we used to use for chopping roots, which is still sharp itself. Would certainly buy again.

Fantastic , the spikes on it makes cutting into the earth super easy , well made .

A flipping awesome piece of garden equipment. Well made, cuts through the soil easily and has a comfortable handle. All in all, very impressed.

Brilliant!Really impressed with this brand.I did receive one that had broken ‘teeth’ in the serrated side but got it replaced quickly without any issues.This is strong, durable and ideal for digging in my huge garden. I like the serrated side as I can cut through roots when transplanting plants, without having to stop and go get another tool for the job.

I needed a spade for some tree planting at a nature reserve where the ground was full of rocks and roots. This spade is superb and helped me dig the holes and cut through roots when necessary. None of the other spades at the site worked anywhere near as well. it was so good my colleagues were borrowing it and ended up buying the roughneck themselves.
