#4 Works well to block out critters or insects from holes or openings
I have a wood burner insert in my fireplace which has a small space from the hearth to the underside of unit. Well, I was wondering why geckos and crawling insects were getting in my "well sealed" home. I even have window screening cut to cover any air vents to block critters. I have OCD when it comes to insects living with me. The seller/company told me to use #4 for that purpose. I love geckos and if I see one of these wonderful creatures, I gently move them in a box and place them outdoors. I finally figured out that they were getting in from climbing into the outdoor chimney that leads to the fireplace and underside of the wood burner insert! Problem solved with these #4 Steel Wool Pads. I tucked them under the insert where the 1/4" space was and no more critters! I think pest control companies that charge an arm and a leg to inspect for problems would never realize that this could be the area of entry. Sorry critters, no more welcome signs, but I am saving your lives you know! I highly recommend these, and the cost is low.

Perfect for Cleaning & Polishing Copper!
Upon the suggestion of an experienced plumber, I ordered the 0000 super fine grit Steel Wool to clean and polish copper pipe. It enables me to remove the imperfections from the pipe without scratching up the copper. I use it with vinegar and salt to clean the really dirty pipe and fittings as well as Brasso to perform the final cleaning and polish.I also used it to successfully clean my $400 Ruffoni copper pan. It was extremely tarnished from years of use and I had actually retired it for quite some time as I had been hestitant on using anything to clean it due to concern of ruining it.

Worked great in rejuvenating '80s cabinets
I used this on my cabinets after washing them with Murphy's Oil Soap, and wiping them down with mineral spirits to remove built up grime, grease and cigarette smoke. In conjunction with Howard's Bees wax and carnauba wax emulsion, The finish is smoother, cleaner and has a wonderful depth and luster the cabinets probably never had.
