I Will Never Go Out into the Wilds Without My Garmin Tread!
I go off road a lot in the northern upper peninsula of Michigan. The two track and other roads are not marked the best. Recently, coming home in the dark I would have got back to camp without this GPS but I would have put on a lot of extra miles. My gut was saying to go in one direction but the Garmin Tread said to go in another direction. I went the Garmin direction! I was so glad I had it. Once my gut and the Garmin came into alignment it made sense why the "all seeing eye" of the Garmin Tread said to go the way it did! I know the price tag is high. I choked on it as well. But if you can get past the price bring this GPS if for nothing more than the large screen and for the how it connects to other cameras. I no longer need my Garmin 62. Honestly, in the old days I used a Topo map and compass to get around. That system is still relevant but using the Garmin is so much better. For night time driving out in the wilds the Garmin Tread is superior to my Garmin handheld GPS. Do I still keep a compass in my pocket? You bet!

Best I’ve ever used!
Three of us bought these units for a 6 day trip around Baja, and they were awesome! The group ride mode made it easy to see where everyone was on the map, and the map search interface was perfect. Even created a route to Mikes Sky Camp from a quick search on the screen. The connection with the phone is seamless as well. Sharing routes via Bluetooth worked great, and the maps are incredible. You can also set it to varying levels of difficulty for off road and on road, and it does great routing as expected. The only feature that is tricky is that you need to push an onscreen button to talk in group mode, and it’s on the right top corner of the screen which made it tough on motorcycles. A push to talk remote for motorcycle riders would’ve been nice. It seems like they are really made for utvs, as there is an included cb style handheld mic/speaker as an option too. I’ve used the garmin Montana for years, but I’ll never go back. This is what I was always looking for.

Best on the market
Love this Garmin Tread. Works great for group rides with other atv/utv with communication and tracking, and works great mounted on my snowmobile, never any issues in the cold.

Can be a challenge to use effectively
Learning to use but so far not very intuitive and can be difficult to operate on the move.

extremely dissapointed, not really an offroad trail map gps at all
super disappointing, firstly it took 7 hours to update and install all available maps, ok not really a big deal. however it has almost no off-road trails in any of those maps at all, not in arizona at least. So i go to load the gpx file for the arizona peace trail, come to find out it cant load it as a route because it has to many waypoints. I call customer service and they say i need to use a program called garmin basecamp on my computer to seperate the waypoints into different groups, basecamp looks like it was last updated 20 years ago. then when using basecamp i find that that wont even work because non of the included topo maps show any of the trails between the waypoints at all, so call support back, they can only suggest buying the 24k topo map for 99$, which by the way has bad reviews because it doesnt have many trails on it. which would then still bring me back to trying to get the basecamp program figured out on how to split the trail into 2 seperate trails and then transferring that to garmin explore, yet another app, and then finally maybe back onto the tread.

Nice product
Works as advertised. Would like to be able to download larger areas on the birds eye view but it is not a show stopper.

Convenient system, easy to use, lots of built in features.
An expensive system considering all the free map systems you can access online however when your hopping from one area to another it this unit is a great for having preloaded detailed maps. I'm not a fan of having to download maps all the time. I was a it disappointed that the built in radio was not GMRS or something that had an ability to actually be useful. Basically unless someone else has a Tread with radio its worthless. Does not connect with Apple Air pods.. Bummer..
