Yes,it does, but the time varies. It's about two years.

Can these be sent back to be recalibrated?

These can be calibrated or "serviced" by any bio-medcial service team to verify that it is still with in Min/Max range per manufacture specs. But you would need to reach out to the manufacture to get confirmatio if it could be done by them and how you could sent back, for calibration from them.

Will this work for a -70 freezer?

Well....we returned ours since we received it broken. But if you get a working one it might.
