Do your own measurements, theirs are rubbish!
The measurements on this device make no sense at all. Had I followed them I would have been adding 3 times the oil required. The solution is to measure in the correct amount of water having calculated how much you need for your mix. Then score the outside with your reference point. You can easily find the right amount by googling 2 stroke mix. For a 1:40 it’s 25ml. I weighed 25ml water (25gm) and then marked the unit. The litre mark is also not totally accurate so I did that as well.Obviously empty and allow to dry before using. The two chamber solution works well, just don’t rely on their marks which make no sense whatsoever. Hence the low score.

Useful, but innacurate & pretty much useless instruction
This is a classic example of cheap crap, you get what you paid for it. The purpose of getting this was to accurately measure and mix petrol & oil for my new hedge trimmers, strimmer & lawn mower. I filled out a contact form on the Silverlines website asking for proper instructions, but never got a response. I finally figured out how to use it I use 40:1. I fill depending on the size of fuel take on the tool, either to 5 or 10 on the side with the correct ratio. Allow a little extra. I have to allow 5mm extra on the fuel and -3mm on the oil to get the correct amounts. I have two of these and from Silverline and they both measure out different quantities. I am perhaps very thick, but looking at the other comments, I am not alone. When I first got this my ratios of oil to petrol were super high. Not how much if any damage this may have done to the machines, but I think it is better than not enough oil :). I am ok with this bottle now, two years on.Long N Short, read the reviews, pick one that you understand and then consider how much it costs last. if it's not right send it back.

Top broke within days
This leaked as the rubber seal doesn't sit flat easily. I tightened the top down which resulted in the top breaking off. It is a cheap item but a costly mistake buying it - spend a few more pennies and buy a decent alternative. It is also fiddley to fill up as the neck to pour the petrol in is at an angle too acute to fill on its base. You have to elevate it and when you do, the fill line is at an angle so you have to constantly fill a fit check level and repeat. Poor deign and really bad quality.

Poor Markings
I found this item utterly confusing, because of bad markings. A Good job I have a proper measure to determine the correct and exact amount of 2 Stroke oil to add to the small tank. As using Silverline's markings ends up in using far too much additive, resulting in a Smokey environment. A Word of Warning! Always fill the small oil tank first before adding petrol into the litre compartment, The Petrol compartment is also badly marked out! I cannot happily recommend this item to the user who wants accuracy in measurement, Far better to go for another make of container.

Leaking screw top
This is a good design for mixing petrol with two stroke oil accurately. Unfortunately one of the screw tops does not Seal properly . I only discovered this after using so can't return
