Good radio for the money
I bought this so I could listen to NPR at work. It was a good choice for that. I also use it as a portable power source for a heated scarf. The good:1 Good battery life2 Easily rechargeable from USB3 Makes a nice USB charging source4 Decent FM Reception5 Good emergency flashlight6 Sound is decent7 Still has earphone jack. Take note Apple.8 Fits nicely in my pocket9 Uses micro USB for charging, the same as your phone. Beware of other radios that charge from old style mini USB ports. (Good luck having the correct cord when you need it.)The bad:1 Cryptic instructions2 Controls not intuitive3 Annoying rotating and distracting display. Had to coverify with tape. Adds no fuctionality.4 Numeric buttons are useless5 Supposed to play mp3s from a micro SD card but there is no way to navigate folders.6 Clear plastic lens fell off and got lost.7 It can charge off your computers USB port. However, as soon as you do it goes into PC speaker mode and you can't use the radio. It serves my purposes well for the price.

Cute, versatile little AM/FM/SW/MP3 playing radio.
This little radio is kind of cute. It reminds me of the little "Transistor Radio" I had as a kid in the 60's. But only because it's about the same size. The radio took a while to arrive as it was shipped from China. Having said that, it arrived about 1-2 weeks earlier than it was promised so I was pleased with that. It was reasonably well packaged and arrived undamaged. It was packed in a little box containing the radio, a 4.7V Lithium-Ion battery that had enough charge to be able to play with the radio immediately without having to charge it.The radio is easy to figure out and use. That's a good thing because like many inexpensive Chinese products, it came with little or no documentation. There was a folded paper written almost entirely in Chinese, and a small slip of paper with 6 total lines of English text. The first line tells you which button to press to switch between FM, AM and SW modes, the second line says to use -FM+ to change the frequency (it turns out that on the actual radio this knob is labeled in Chinese), the third line reminds you that the M button does nothing and is just there "for looking nice". I got a kick out of that. The numeric keypad that I had hoped was for direct frequency entry alas is not. It is only used when playing MP3 files from an inserted USB thumb-drive or SD/TF card to select the track. The next line tells you "more details pls open the item website and find the red one". Unfortunately nowhere on the box or included papers is the website URL listed. I thought maybe they meant the listing for the red version of this radio on Amazon, but there was nothing to be found there either.I finally resorted to the Google Translate app on my iPad that attempts to translate what it sees through the iPad camera from the selected source language into the selected destination language. I didn't learn much from this other than the statement that the warranty is only valid on mainland China. So I guess if this breaks, I have to buy a ticket to China...makes perfect sense.I finally just played with the radio and figured out the controls. Here's what I learned: - The on/off switch is the slider closest to where the antenna is attached. - For listening to radio, most of the controls on the front do nothing - The volume control is the thumbwheel on top - The USB connector on top is for playing music etc from a USB memory stick (thumb drive) - The micro-USB connector is for charging the battery - There is no charging indication that I could detect. The translated "User Guide" seems to indicate that charging should take 2 hours and stops automatically. I have not yet verified this. I won't be leaving it unattended with a charger connected until I do. Lithium-Ion batteries fail rather spectacularly when overcharged (with flames and/or explosive force). - The thumb wheel just above the charging port is for changing the frequency during AM/FM/SW operation. Tuning is twitchy and the numeric display isn't terribly accurate. - There is a standard 1/8" headphone jack above the tuning wheel - There is a bright white LED light above that that can be illuminated with the button on the front with the light bulb icon. - I inserted a micro-SD card containing some MP3 files. The radio immediately switched to playback mode and turned off radio reception. You can select the desired track with the fast forward, reverse, and numeric pad. You can pause and resume playback with the play/pause button. - As noted in the English hints paper, the M button does nothing, but it sure does look nice. ;-) - There is a short telescoping antenna.Reception is good with nice sounding audio from the built-in speaker. I was able to receive FM, AM and surprisingly SW (shortwave) broadcast stations from my basement just using the built-in antenna.Overall, I'm pleased with the radio. It will make a nice radio to carry in my backpack to and from work. I would recommend that you DO NOT keep this radio in a car. There have been many instances of Lithium-Ion batteries self destructing in a hot car during the summer. This warning goes for any device with a Lithium battery.

Nice little radio.
This is a nice little radio...yes little. It's about 5 1/8" x 2 5/8". It has decent reception. You can plug a USB drive into the top and listen to music off of it. If you have a USB drive plugged in you can switch to the radio by hitting the FM AM SW button. If you want to go back to the USB drive it states in the manual that the M key doesn't do anything but this is untrue as it will go back to the USB drive and continue where it left off. It also states it has a built in rechargeable battery however mine had an 18650 battery which you can take out and change which is nice if you're going camping and have nowhere to charge it, you can buy extra batteries to take with and change out. The charger for it is built in which is nice since it's an extra item you don't need to take with. The speaker is powerful. The volume runs from 0 up to 16 but unless you are outside and it's very loud or just want to annoy the neighbors I doubt you will ever use 16. I think 3 is more than adequate to have the volume at so you can imagine how loud it gets. The FM tuner changes by .1 when you turn the dial (LED Station display) from 87.5-108.0, the AM skips 9 from 522-1620 and the Short Wave skips 2 2 and 3. You have to take care when you change it or it will jump a bunch at a time.Disclaimer: I received this product at a discount for my honest and unbiased review.

A nice compact radio!
The SAST Personal Portable FM//AM/SW Radio is great for camping, hiking, picnics, emergency, around the house, or just about anything else outdoors. Easy to throw in a pack and take anywhere. Everything listed was in the box and the product works great. Out in the woods signal can be distorted, so it would be nice with a stronger antenna. However, anywhere around the house this thing blasts music. Can be turned up nice and loud. Overall sound quality is not excellent, but pretty good considering the small size of the radio. This is definitely a great little radio that I would recommend purchasing if you need an easy to use and portable option.I received this product for free or at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Pretty good
Instructions are very hard to understand. The numbered buttons are not for the radio but for the SD/tf card. You use a normal dial for the radio and it can be hard to stop exactly on the right station because it is so sensitive. The radio does work well though.I plan on using this in the car since someone not so nicely stole my radio...Grrrr!It is nice that there is a flashlight on it as well which is another reason I plan on keeping it in the car. Then if we go to the park etc. we have a radio to listen to.I received this item for a discounted price in return for my honest review.
