Strouss': Youngstown's Dependable Store Hardcover – November 27, 2012

I got some chocolate malted mix, some good French Vanilla ice cream, made my sister a big Chocolate Malted treat, and gave her the malted and this book on Christmas Day. She's a bit older than me and both have great memories of growing up in Youngstown but until I gave her this book I never realized how much she loved Strauss'. She was very pleased with the book and the malted.

My son collects and reads books about Youngstown and by Youngstowners, so when I saw this, I bought it for his collection. He tells me I need to read it, too. Strouss' was one of two large department stores in our town when I was a child and one of my fondest memories about it was its fabulous window displays...especially the Christmas ones. The store was sold to the Macy Company when my son was still an infant, so he will learn of Strouss' glorious part in the history of our town through this book. Thanks for carrying it!!For those not from the Youngstown Area, it is an important piece of business history that I would recommend to business majors and history buffs.

This book was interesting to me because I’m from the area and shopped many years at Strouss. However I found several typographical errors and that made me wonder if this book was carefully written and how much accuracy is contained in the pages.

Great history of a town and company I'm familiar with and had been to.

Strouss is where I worked retail before joining the Executive Training Program and becoming an Asst. Buyer, in the mid-80's., so I loved the historical nature of this book. Enjoyed the photos.

Learning about the Strouss' store you use to go when you were younger. Did lot of shopping tyhere.Also all my family. Good book.

Received this book for Christmas and I've only read about 10 pages. Growing up in Youngstown in the 1950's & early 60's this department store was 'The Store' to shop. The book reveals the feeling of being right there once again. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book. Thanks to the publisher and writer for bringing back that wonderful time in our life. Great reading everyone!
