Q: Do you need to run for 48 hours and backwash for just the weekly maintenance dose?

I have my filter on a timer and it runs 12 hours a day. So I put in the Phosfree and run for 4 days without backwashing. At the end of the 4 days, then I backwash. I have done it this way for several years and it works just fine.

Q: does it work for salt water?

YES. It will work fine in a salt water pool. "Salt water" pools are still using chlorine to sanitize the water... it's just that the chlorine is derived from the small amount of salt (sodium chloride) present in the water, via electrolysis in the salt cell. YES: It is very effective in eliminating algae in all pools!

Q: Product use to be a milky appearance and texture. this order (may 2021) looks and smells just like water? have i been had?

I experienced the same issue. I thought so also, that they just gave me water, no milky liquid. Can anyone tell me why it is now clear? And yes I shook it and still looks like water and I have started getting algae.
