Incredibly informative book for anyone with cows
Must have book for anyone who has cows! Incredibly detailed & laid out so it is easy to go between chapters for your exact needs as they arise. I have purchased Coleby’s other books for the different farm animals we have at our sanctuary.

A must book for any herdswomen or herdsmen
I use this book constantly. I have learned from this book that many bovine diseases can be prevented if attention is paid to deficiencies and how to prevent them. Pat always asks what is the root cause and how to treat and/or prevent. This book has helped us with our health program for our cattle herd in a significant way. One random thought that has occurred to me: If cattle are susceptible to diseases due to deficiencies, why not humans?

For serious cattlemen and women!
This book is excellent. I am so impressed with it and Pat's knowledge, that I am going to purchase her other livestock books. This is a book for those who want to get the most from their animals and their land and do it naturally. Preventative livestock management and optimum nutrition are key. Real and permanant solutions for your livestock.

Educational as the the causes of many diseases coming from specific mineral deficiencies. Provides a more wholistic understanding of many cow problems. A good resource. Though my cow does not like the mineral lick recipe in the book.

Good info but poorly organised.
This book contains a wealth of excellent information about how to care for cattle, the minerals they need, the diseases that can affect them and how to treat them... but it is so poorly organised that actually finding the particular bit of information you want is next to impossible. The index is next to useless, and many of the minerals and supplements lack any kind of dosage information, for example apple cider vinegar is recommended for pre-calving cows to prevent calving difficulty... but I cannot find any information on the appropriate dose per cow. The dose is given in things like 'half a pint spread on their feed'. Half a pint for how many cows? On how much feed? How often? This could be a really good book if someone just took out half the anecdotes about 'such and such a farmer did this' and put in a decent dosage table for each relevant supplement.

Some helpful information
This book is okay yet lacks important information about common problems in cattle in Australia such as buffalo fly. Perhaps more for the English readership. It is a shame the other the other two books on cattle on sheep were not part of this book.
