Do not expected too much from average hardware and low quality software
The NAS works with no problem, but there some weak parts.Regarding hardware components. The Power Supply is external and as such has only passive cooling. Even with 1 HDD and 1 SSD it is around 40 degrees Celsius, just curious how hot it will become in summer when all 5 HDD will be running. Also, Racks made of plastic and have sliding issues (like plastic glues itself to other parts). I was choosing ARM NAS for lower noise and NAS by itself doesn't produce any. But on the back side of the NAS there are holes directly to HDD making zero HDD noise reduction. So, keep HDDs nearly open for cooling is nice, but plastic racks, dust and noise ruins those efforts. The worst part of this NAS is software. Getting exact information about supported software packages per model compatibility was very difficult. At least I was expecting to have WireGuard VPN support, which is not supported on my model. Also update of OpenVPN certificates to the newer (latest OpenVPN version required) protocols took really a lot of time. Data synchronization between two NASes (the counterpart is older 5-bay ARM model) via VPN tunnel worked reliably using OpenVPN protocol, IPSec was interrupting constantly and QBelt was about 30% slower comparing to OpenVPN. From my experience using any proprietary QNAP technologies makes nearly impossible to accomplish tasks in a timely manner. PhotoStation and Multimedia are non-reasonable slow. Using PhotoStation my mobile phone has to stay awake more than a day (about 30-40 seconds per 4Mb image file), but just copy 2Gb photos from my phone to NAP over WiFi network took using file copy took about 2 minutes. QFinder is also not reliably finds my NAS on network and doesn't wake it up using WOL. The only software that works relatively without problem is “kernel”.As a conclusion, I am disappointed with this model (my "older" QNAP NAS is better than this one), but still, you can use it as a raw NAS file storage... Also, I would not recommend relying on any software that you get/can install on this model unless you personally test it for your needs. Also, with my experience waiting for supporting "modern" secure algorithms and protocols from QNAP, you should never expose this device directly to internet.

Great for business use as well as media streaming
Overall I added an 18tb Ironwolf Pro for main storage, a 4tb SSD for essential files, 2 x 1tb SSD for write caching and it's a solid performer, reliable and easy to update with excellent support, although if you just want Plex than I would go with something cheaper but for business use as well as general this is a winner.

Qnap sempre ottimi dispositivi
Ho preso questo dispositivo per archviare materiale multimediale, ottimo sia per come è fatto, per il software e anche per l'espandibilità

Great device
I've never had a NAS before and am a complete rookie when it comes to something like this., but decided it was time I sort out and tidy up my home Heath Robinson network and storage solution. Some of the reviews said this isn't for beginners, but I disagree, even though the smart setup failed for me (it stuck at the upgrading firmware option and wouldn't go past that) I've managed to set this up with Raid 5 for the main five 3.5" bays, read and write SSD caches with two SSD's in the first two 2.5" bays and a backup Raid 1 using the two hdd's in the last two 2.5" bays.I wish I'd invested in something like this much sooner than I did, so you might ask why only a 4 star review, that's because its not perfect (nothing is) but anyone with a modicum of common sense should be able to follow its prompts to set up things and also because I had to purchase an exFAT license for my exFAT drives to work in the USB ports, although this was only about £3:50.It serves my needs perfectly but I'm not a power user, I just need my files served around my home which this is doing perfectly :)

Great features at this price point.
Replaced my old Qnap NAS with this, reused my old drives and it carried over my old configs and data - great.Added two 1T SSD for cache and that helped a bit but not as much as I was hoping for.I think if you want a real speed-up you need to add NVME drives which this won't take, but at this price I am not complaining. NVME capable product is more than twice the price. This was a great upgrade.
