The King's Investigator (The Chronicles of Brother Hermitage Book 19)

Brother Hermitage (somehow) does it again!
Yet another brilliantly funny tale from Norman times, in which Brother Hermitage, together with Wat the Weaver and Cwen (also a weaver, but keep that quiet) are summoned by King William to solve a murder that took place literally outside his door in the Tower of London, which is still under construction. But the killer might be Le Pedvin, in which case.... Another monk tries to take over Hermitage's role - why? As usual, Hermitage gets accused of the murder, even though he can prove he wasn't even there at the time; such details weren't of much importance it seems. Can Hermitage, Wat and Cwen solve the murder before someone - William the Conqueror, Le Pedvin, anybody really - decides that they should be held responsible? Of course they can, but the route to doing so is fabulously entertaining.

Vestigare, vestigo
Brother Hermitage saves the mind from the insanity of lockdown. I have now read all 19 of the Chronicles and can honestly say that the quality stayed consistently high throughout. But now I need to know Wat and Cwen's further adventures. Will there be little Wats and Cwenlettes? Inquiring minds need to know. Please, Howard of Warwick, give us more. And no, I am not asking about a ferry!

More the Boatman is back!!
And he's causing confusion as always. Marvellous. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Suspected who the murderer was right from the start but just so enjoyed the tortuous, funny and complicated route it took to get Hermitage, Wat and Cwen to the finish line. Must get straight onto Part 2...

Please not the end.
Another masterpiece from the quill of Howard of Warwick, gut-bustingly funny from start to finish but please, please, please don't let it be the last we read of Brother Hermitage (funny name for a monk, that,). And what of Wat and Cwen? Will they, won't they? And possibly more of More and the other Mores?

Side splitting, laugh a minute addition to the series. If you have followed Brother Hermitage, Wat and Cwen’s adventures to date you will not be disappointed. How will they sort out the latest murder when there’s a new monk in the mix?New and old friends a plenty.

Another triumph
Wonderful, laughing aloud as I was reading this. Familiar characters, some older friends and some even older ones as well as what I'm sure will be new ones. If you loved all the rest you will also love this one. Happy reading.
