Cheesy? Yes. Great? Yes!
This is an obviously low-budget fantasy movie that manages to find that balance of "tell a good story" and "doesn't take itself too seriously". Are the effects kinda meh? Sure. But, the writing is pretty good, and the acting is really solid! For a low-budget movie, you'll have a hard time finding something better! This could be a new cult classic. At the very least, it's a B movie worth a second watch on those nights when you can't find anything else. (James Marsters is what originally caught my attention here - not because of his Buffy role but because of his audiobook narration.)

Shoe-string budget, but fun
Let's get the actual factual objective bad out of the way; there are almost no extras in this movie at all so it feels empty in several scenes, the sets are ALL green screen practically, and the CGI basically sucks throughout (though the last big fight scene was done pretty well overall). So that's out of the way. Some reviewers have stated it's really bad that everyone in the movie is white, and everyone in the movie is more or less straight. If you don't count the Orc, this is 100% true. It's also a bit racist and heterophobic to even mention in the first place, but I am mentioning it because if that bothers you, this film might not be something you want to watch. With a cast of about a dozen people, they decided not to fill the ranks with people you would normally see in an "Amazon Original." So be warned (or encouraged) depending on your preferences. If that doesn't bother you, then be prepared for a bit of comedy, but nothing on the level of the toilet-humor from say, Adam Sandler or complete nonsense humor like Will Farrel. The "nipple twister" part of the trailer makes this out to be a lot edgier than it is. The jokes are slap stick or awkward, but nothing over the top.Mostly it's a well-grounded fantasy movie with almost no abject messaging. The lead character is played by a guy who, while not perfect, has a lot of charisma and is entertaining to watch (very well done casting overall). Just people trying to do the right thing and save the day, while dealing with their own inner demons and faults(but not being bogged down by them), and eventually coming to a satisfying ending (and setup for a potential sequel, though if it never gets made, the story won't suffer for it).I enjoyed the heck out of this. Good guys win, bad guys pay, and people kiss each other at the end (in a non-weird way).It was very low-budget, but they did a lot with very little. It's more than I can say for pretty much every "original" show from this site in the last 2 years. Dunno if I'd pay for this, but having it on Prime was a nice break from the rest of the stuff on here. But in all honesty, I owe a huge thank-you to the reviewer who mentioned this would "anger a big portion of the population." Your dismissal of the film based on demographics and "phobias" was a glowing recommendation for me, and watching this ended up being worth it.

Modern B fantasy movie
Okay, so if you're expecting something other than a B movie, you're going to be disappointed. You have a small cast in front of a green screen and SFX that aren't fantastic by the standards of the year ... which is to say better green screen SFX than one would see in an A-list movie of the 1990s.Time has moved on, and this is an enjoyable romp of a fantasy film that doesn't take itself too seriously ... and still makes a passable impression of an epic fantasy film while doing so. It's a better watch than some of the higher-budget older fantasy films it lampoons, TBQH.Some reviews complain about the acting and the cast. If you think you don't like james Marsters's acting in this but liked it in Buffy, it's probably because you don't like the character he's playing, not because he forgot how to act. It's a solid performance all around for everyone; the more negative reviews seem undeserved, and here's a positive one.

Sacrificial virgins deserve love too.
I highly recommend this movie. Give it 20 min, you won't turn it off. It's Monty Python's Holy Grail meets Princess Bride with an omage to Star Wars. Great adventure story, good acting, hilarious, cheesy, yet great affects on a low budget. I've seen it twice. Watch through the credits, you will thank me.

For the Mystical Movie Lover
If you enjoy the mystical type movie, then you might enjoy it. It’s definitely an indie film. Unfortunately not my type of movie.
