As a Puerto Rican woman, I love that this book depicts a brown skin family that is supportive and encouraging Basquiat's interests. The crown throughout is a symbol of strength and empowers young readers, especially black and brown children that are often negatively portrayed in the media and kept from aspiring to do big and better things! This is a must have little gem of a book. (Board book targets they younger toddler ages 3K/PreK classrooms, but the content is great for elementary- art introduction to his work) Review: My son and I loved this book! - My little guy loved reading about an artist of Haitian descent whose artistic style is similar to his! It's an added bonus that it's in both English and Spanish. I would love a Haitian-Creole version, though! Get this for your little artists!

A Must Have Book!

My son and I loved this book!
