They are metallic in effect, but not of metal construction.The cut out channel for the wire had sharp burrs that I had to sand down.Fastened by a screw and wrawl plug. Not the best, and a bit overkill, a 3M patch would be more than enough.

Easy to install and look great!

Its what I expected in terms of look but not size! See photo. Really quite small and not up to hanging my 40cm dia metal-domed ceiling pendant light. You can't increase the screw size (which probably could have worked) because the slot won't accept any larger screw head. The fabric cable fits no problem but I'm not trusting that size screw to this size light!
