AWESOME!!! Could not be more pleased. :)
If you are looking for a great devotional to do with your children. THIS is THE one to get! We have used many devotionals, but this one is by far the best. It covers sin, our need for a Savior, Christ's redemption, the bible verses applied, and most importantly, it addresses the sinful/selfish heart issues we all deal with. There are questions that urge your children to think and there is a salvation thread at the end of each section that really ties in. My boys are 12 and almost 8, but this devotional is great for all ages. It truly has everything you're looking for. I wish I had had it years ago. :)

a great overview of the Gospel of Grace in the entire Bible
My husband and I actually both enjoyed the book and we feel it gives a pretty good basic overview of the Bible and how it all points to Christ. There were a few things we noticed as we went along however. The first was the absence of the mention of Rahab. We do think that is a serious omission as she is in the direct line of Christ and part of that "Scarlet thread" that goes throughout the Scriptures, and we hope that the author will insert it on subsequent editions if there are any. Perhaps the author did that deliberately in order to avoid the subject of harlotry for younger children? Also, he does appear to use a paraphrased version (NLT) quite a lot and also paraphrases the paraphrase at times. Supposedly he also uses the NIV. When he quotes directly, it is printed in red and gives the reference. Others can be advised to just look up those sections in the King James and read it from there rather than his quoted paraphrase. That is what we did. Also, sometimes the references he gave were not quite complete enough. We found that sometimes we needed to add the verse immediately preceding or immediately following to better understand the context of the point he was trying to make. We both feel that with an understanding of the previous points, this book can be very beneficial in getting a pretty good overview of the Gospel story in the entire Bible and definitely brings out the Gospel of Grace and how it transforms lives. I hope you find this helpful to you.

Need two copies it's so good!
I have two children, an eight year old and a six year old and they both enjoy reading this book (and being read to from the book at bed time) so much - that I really should purchase an additional copy...not to mention that I like reading the book myself. It's a really well written book - written so that the children can understand it, and adults enjoy it and want to read it as well. This is a great read for a new Christian also, really explaining the bible book by book, easily. If you are looking for a gift for a child - I think it would be a great gift for any child in the age range of six - ten years old, that would be really enjoyed.

Fine, but not great
Each chapter gives a short introduction to the book of the Bible it is covering. Next it gives an overview which consists of paraphrases of key Bible texts from that book.I didn't think that was the best way to do an overview. It seemed choppy and didn't give a very good overview. It would have been more accurate to call that section Snippets and to have another section with an overview. I also didn't really like the way the paraphrases were done. They seemed overly simplified. The next section in each chapter was on lessons from that book of the Bible. Each lesson had its own Bible references, questions for thought and also pointed back to one of the verses given in the "overview". Then came a section called Salvation Thread which showed how this book pointed to Jesus. This was probably my favorite section of them all and the one that was best done. The chapter closed with a key verse from the book (e.g. Exodus had Ex. 6:6). Each chapter was about 3 pages long. The book seems better suited for a Bible study then for reading it straight through. I didn't read the whole book, but what I read seemed accurate. It certainly would be simple enough for a child to understand for the most part, but I didn't feel like it would be something that would resonate with children. If I was going to use it, I would probably just use the introduction and the salvation thread sections and skip the rest of it. There are a good number of pencil sketches throughout the book that break up the chunks of text.

Taking nothing of the Bible out, putting nothing in.
Plain and clear writing. Making the Bible more clear and accessible. Taking nothing of the Bible out and putting nothing in. It is obvious that the Bible is for all ages and all people. This book is a good way in, especially, of course, for children.

We love this book
We love this book! It is full of valuable information about each and every book of the Bible and a fantastic resource for any Christian home. I am thrilled with it, and wish I had known of it earlier. The layouts are simple and easy to follow, even for my children.
