The best Marshall in a box yet!
This has great Marshall tones, but also a full bottom end, like you’re playing through a 4x12 cab…. Great note definition and all the right frequencies. Tone City has become one of my favorite pedal makers, in spite of their bargain prices! Don’t let the low price fool ya.. these are serious tone tools!

My favorite 'Marshall in a box' pedal
I own a lot of 'Marshall in a box' pedals, something like 10-12. They range from JTM/Bluesbreaker style, to Super Lead style, to JCM style, and I have a few 'brown sound' pedals as well. I also own a couple of really good boutique pedals that are built to the same circuit design as the 1959 SLP and JCM800.The Tone City Model M is the latest Marshall style pedal in my collection. The Model M has now been a regular on my pedal board over the last few months. I think it's as good as any other Marshall sounding pedal I own.The Model M's main controls are pretty simple. It has a volume knob that works as expected. It has a boost section, with a switch and knob that work as expected. It has a single tone knob instead of a three-band EQ, but the tone EQ sounds so good that the extra knobs are not missed. The gain structure has two switchable channels--High Gain (JCM style) and Crunch (JTM/Plexi style). Each side has its own gain knob, so I can switch between gain channels as I like, without having to mess with a shared gain control. That's very cool. It's like having two Marshall style pedals in one. The pedal is also very quiet, and it's never muddy at any setting. The gain range is very useful. I can go from an early 60s low gain sound to the edge of an 80s JCM style crunch sound. That gives me a nice variety of tones to choose from. I feel like I can put the gain knobs almost anywhere and get good sounds. The Model M has some of the more pleasing Marshall sounds I've heard in a pedal. In crunch mode, with the gain knob set between 12 and 2 o'clock, that's one of my favorite gain sounds of any of my pedals. I can play in that mode for hours and never get bored of that sound. The only minor drawback, if you can call it that, is that if I set the High Gain knob at or beyond 3 o'clock, it introduces a high-pitched whistling sound, so I have to be careful where that knob is set. The same issue is also the case in another Tone City pedal, the Model E. But I don't ever need to crank the high gain that high, though, so it's not a problem for me.The Model M is my go-to Marshall style pedal, and it is arguably the best pedal I own.

SUper RApport Qualite/prix

Marshall on the cheap
Good value and has some great Marshall-like tweekable sounds. I haven't yet used this at a gig, only rehearsals with a transistor amp and it seems to work better with different amps (I use valve amps generally). It's certainly loud, but it's a pity that you cannot activate the Boost independently. Does appear to be a bit noisy when used with other pedals when daisy-chained though. Overall pretty pleased

Tres bonne pedale
Bref, super achat !
