Gre(y)at Grout - not as anthracite as expected
This is a really high quality grout which is easy to apply and mix.The mix ratio is approximately 25% water and 75% grout powder. I found that 250 ml of water in a small bucket with one ÂŁ1kg bag of powder poured in gradually over a few mins was the easiest way to prepare the grout and mix it the same time. The more you work the grout, the more of a lacquer effect or sheen it will have and the more malleable it is. For smaller areas or awkward spacing, you can literally work this like a putty in your hands (whilst wearing gloves) and push it into spaces. I found it very easy to apply and also to remove any residues as it binds quite well together. It has a good work time before drying and dries to a tidy, neat compound.I really wanted to give this five stars but unfortunately the proclaimed 'Anthracite' colour is perhaps a bit of a gimmick to make you buy it. I feel it bears not much resemblance to this unique colour at all. There is no hint of blue and the colour is lighter than expected. My view is that the tone is such a mismatch that you wouldn't get a different result even if you were to use less water and therefore end up with a darker mixture. I've recently installed a brand new anthracite colour porch frame and painted my garage door the same colour. The products I used were from different companies and both RAL colour 7016 i.e. an industry standard/ accepted grading of 'anthracite'. I made a grout stone with the leftover. You can see from my photo that the colour that this grout has dried to is, at best, a light to medium grey against the black desk and not really comparable to the true anthracite colour window frame.Itt still looks great however and I'm impressed with the product.
