The Suicidal Thoughts Workbook: CBT Skills to Reduce Emotional Pain, Increase Hope, and Prevent Suicide

The absolute cutting edge when it comes to suicide prevention
As a CBT trainer I'm always trying get good resources into the hands of frontline clinicians and by extension the people they serve. Lifesaving efforts like safety plans have thankfully become more commonplace. But suicide prevention is so much more than just a safety plan. This book is something every clinician needs and just the general public should have this as well. This workbook is invaluable, it literally will save lives. I'm an international trainer and even I learned from this book. But the beauty is that it's a workbook so there's handouts and worksheets to help with the process. Definitely worth it!!

Help is on the way!
This is a fantastic book for anyone who is dealing with suicidal acts or ideation in their own lives, or if you are close to or working with someone who is. Dr. Gordon shares clear methods to help reduce these ideations and understand why these intrusive thoughts arrive and persist and what do do about them. I highly recommend both as someone who works in mental health and has struggled with these challenges myself!

Indispensable for clinicians; life-saving for clients
As a therapist, psychotherapy trainer, and supervisor, I have long lamented the absence of this book in our professional world. Helping clients to manage suicidal thoughts is often so poorly taught, I think partly because professors and supervisors aren't comfortable enough (because they aren't equipped well enough!) This book should be in every therapist's hands, and then on every therapist's bookshelf so they can read it again next year, pull out that perfect activity, or copy that essential chapter for a client in immediate need. This workbook is incredibly compassionate and thorough, gentle and practical. There's no shying away from any difficult topics, and everything is handled with steadfast confidence in and grace for the reader. This is an indispensable resource for therapists, and I have no doubt it will be life-saving for clients.

Strongly recommend for both clients and clinicians
I just got a copy of The Suicidal Thoughts Workbook and I can tell already that this will be an invaluable tool for both individuals struggling with thoughts about suicide as well as clinicians who are working with suicidal clients. I strongly recommend this book as a must-have for both parties! It will be in great tool for many.

Practical and compassionate as soon as I started reading.
The author is wise and compassionate conveying her multidimensional approach. Her personal voice seems to come from the pages. I find my self practicing her suggestions and applying new knowledge in my practice as a chaplain. There are few resources that have been as helpful in this area. The music playlist truly touched me. I highly recommend it. Thank you, Dr. Gordon!

Great resource for building a life worth living
I am a clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and young adults. I am excited to have a new resource to recommend my emerging adults who are struggling with suicidal thoughts. This workbook is an incredible resource. Each chapter includes education as well as exercises to help you build coping strategies and a life worth living. Dr. Gordon also includes examples for almost every worksheet, which takes the guesswork out of how to interpret or complete any exercise. Her compassionate voice is woven throughout which adds a lovely, personal touch. I am happy to have this resource to recommend to patients along with other suicide prevention resources.Disclaimer: I received a copy of this workbook through a twitter contest. I was not asked for a review and this is my honest assessment.
