This extender worked wonders for our lagging devices!
We have struggled with a weak wifi signal at the rear of our home for several years. I have tried the XPods and another extender type device with no luck. Lagging streaming television and weak wifi on cell phones at the further most point from our router were a constant issue until I purchased this device. My intention was to try the TP-Link AC 1900 as a wireless extender first to see if I could get the signal to improve. Setup was fairly easy after I downloaded the app and followed the guidance. This device feels well constructed and booted up quickly. Once I got it up and running, I checked the download speeds in the dead spots of my home and it did boost them... not significantly but a noticeable boost. Basically, from 1-2 Mbps to 12-15Mbps. I then decided to use the AC1900 as an access point due to the fact that it has an ethernet port. Once I figured out how to change the settings to access point, I plugged it in to a hard line that I had run prior at the rear of the house and then checked the speeds again. To my delight, the speeds were now in the 300-400 Mbps range repeatedly. This was a huge win for us as we have struggled with low internet speeds in portions of our home for years. Setup was a little confusing as I had to figure out how to name the network and set passwords so that we could access it. After reading some additional info and watching a few youtube videos, I was able to get it all up and running. The nice part was that I was able to name the new network the same as our existing network with the suffix ext to identify that it is the extended network. Same password and for the most part, our phones would recognize the stronger signal and switch almost automatically. Our streaming TV's and my son's headset gaming system are now booming with wifi thanks to the TP-Link Extender. I believe this is a real upgrade and solution to low wifi signals in the home. Well worth the modest investment for the increased speed and reliability of you home network.

TP Link is a Solid Name and a this is a Great Extender
I am writing this after about 2 weeks in use. I bought this extender as a replacement for a Linksys (RE7000) extender. This is paired with a Linksys WRT3200ACM Router. I was having fits trying to keep the RE7000 paired as I only had it on the second floor going thru 2 interior walls less than 50 feet straight line from the router. Knowing the popularity of mesh systems driving the price of extenders down, I decided to look around at them as a low-cost replacement with higher reliability than my older Linksys RE7000. The setup was very simple, as with most extenders, you plug it in close to your router and hit the WPS button to sync it. If you want to customize the SSID name(s), you can use with the phone app (Tether) or use the direct IP address via your browser, which is probably in the 192.168.1.xxx range. There are a few more options going thru the web configuration than the phone app, but I am very pleased so far. I do feel like the 3 antennas on the unit are very beneficial, as when I would take a power hit, the Linksys would take forever to reconnect with my garage door and ring camera. As a test, I simply unplugged this RE550 and plugged it back in - both 2.4gz devices connected right away after the RE550 connected to my router. And I've had NO disconnects with the companion phone apps (Ring for the camera, myQ for the garage, PLEX on my Roku, nor DirecTV). With 1gz Internet service in a 3200sf house, this extender does the trick. Someday I might go to a mesh system, but right now, the extender SSIDs are giving me 4-5 bars of signal strength throughout the back-half of the house where the main router covers the front half. Streaming on my ROKU/Plex has been perfect since migrating to this TP Link RE550.

Solid wifi extender
I am well versed with Wifi technologies. This is a great little extender that I used in an home ASUS mesh environment. While this does not connect to AImesh it does connect easily to the environment and is compatible. I use this for a covered patio outside during the warm months of the year. I access the GUI through a web browser interface....not an app so I can't speak to that (just old). It is a dual band extender. I usually use 5ghz for the backhaul and 2.4 for the extension channel. At max performance this device easily reaches my shed with strong signal about 100 ft away. I choose a more limited performance due to wifi interference at the 2.4 level. This works extremely well on covering the patio areas and not bleeding over into the house. This device replaces much more expensive devices (Nighthawk extenders) and works far better. At the $40 deal price that I purchased this on it can be offered up outside under the patio and is affordable to replace unlike the Nighthawks. I've had problems with the GUI in the past with TP Link but this web interface was straightforward and easy to follow. Its easy to plug it in and then unplug it when necessary. The boot time is long but that is the case with most network devices. The connections are solid to multiple devices and the throughput and download speeds are acceptable for 4k streaming from the internet and internal network. A worthy purchase at the price point for my use.

Capable Extender, But Not Sure It's for Everyone โ Younger Tech Users May Appreciate It More
Capable Extender, But Not Sure It's for Everyone โ Younger Tech Users May Appreciate It More I'd put this TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 extender at about 4 stars, though I'll be upfrontโI'm not entirely sure I'm a fan of this product personally. The specs are genuinely impressive on paper: WiFi 6 support, dual band, coverage up to 1500 sq. ft., Gigabit ethernet port, AP mode, and OneMesh compatibility all sound great and deliver for the right user. Once it's fully set up and running, the signal boost and coverage improvement are noticeable and perform well. My hesitation comes down to the setup processโthere's a fair amount of prep work and configuration involved before you're up and running, and for someone who just wants to plug it in and go, it can feel like more effort than expected. I think a younger, more tech-savvy user would probably appreciate all the advanced features and get more out of it than I have. If you're comfortable with network configuration and want a capable, feature-rich WiFi 6 extender, this one delivers solid performance. Just be prepared to invest some time in the setup to get the most out of it.

Economical and efficient WIFI extender
First usage: -Easy setup within app (can use website also) -Immediately improvement to my internet issue (Even by having further from router than computer) -Used for a mid sized gaming PC by ethernet cord (It had the external wifi USB adapter fail. Also tried AX210 wifi card and it only only maxed out at about120mbps download (not consistent with minimum being at about 20mbps and slow loading for transitioning websites)

Fantastic!
I recently switched from Xfinity to AT&T fiber. I had to buy an extender to reach from the back of the house to the garage. Set up was not that difficult surprisingly for me. I also was able to place it further than I expected, which was a plus. I had a bit of trouble trying to connect my garage camera to the extender. But I was finally able to link my garage camera and garage door opener to the extender. For my camera, I had to go into the extender app and disconnect the 5G or whatever that is and just let it connect to the 2.4. Once I did that my camera started working. I went back into the app and added the 5G back. The camera still worked. This device works fine with AT&T. I did not connect it via WPS.

Fast but very difficult to configure
The GOOD: once up and running, it delivers excellent range extension, and the 1Gbps ethernet connector works well - am getting close the maximum my fiber network can provide. The BAD: the configuration options are awful. Initially I tried the Tether app option, but it would not register the device. Maybe that's because my router is an Eero, not a TP Link router; but in any case I tried repeatedly and it would not get past the first screen. The support video for the device install actually depicts different setup options in the app, and shows a different model of extender - so not really helpful! I was able to configure the device fairly easily using an Ethernet cable to a laptop that was not otherwise connected to the network. BUT... after configuration, I wanted to go back and make changes, and I could not get back in to the administration screens - again, I tried the Tether app, and the suggested tplinkrepeater.net link - neither worked. The only option was to factory reset the device and start over again. The UNEXPECTED: I could use this device to heat my office! Boy, does this thing run HOT. According to my laser thermometer, it's at 119 degrees F !! I have to say I don't care for the design either. It is big, and is intended to be plugged directly into a wall socket. I put it on a 12" extension so that the back of the unit could cool, away from the wall.

Strong Coverage Boost With a Few Setup Hiccups | Fox Den Reviews
After dealing with stubborn Wi-Fi dead zones in the upstairs bedrooms and on the patio, I picked up the TP-Link RE550 โ and Iโm happy to report it delivered a noticeable upgrade. Streaming is smoother, smart home devices stop dropping offline, and pages load without that frustrating โspinning wheelโ delay. Once connected, performance has been stable and speeds remain impressively close to my main network. I especially like the signal strength indicator LEDs on the unit โ super handy for finding the ideal placement. The Gigabit Ethernet port is also a great bonus for devices that benefit from a hard-wired connection like a TV or gaming console. And being EasyMesh compatible gives me room to expand in the future, which is a nice plus. Where it fell just short of 5 stars: โข The setup wasnโt as smooth as advertised โ the app froze once and I had to reset and retry pairing โข Itโs a bit bulky, so depending on your outlet placement, it may be a tight fit Once everything was sorted, though, itโs been rock-solid. Great range, strong speeds, and no more Wi-Fi โdead zone frustration.โ A solid upgrade for anyone wanting to extend reliable coverage without jumping fully into a mesh system just yet. ๐ฆ๐ก Fox Den Reviews Approved โ Reliable Performance With Minor Quirks

Best purchase in awhile! It saved my marriage!
I live in a fairly small 3 floor (duplex) house, with a small front and back yard. My wifi router from my provider is in the basement. This left me with great reception in the basement, which I rarely spent time in. Medicore reception on the main floor and basically abysmal reception upstairs, where the bedrooms are. That means anytime I would try to use the wifi for anything upstairs I would get kicked to data. Which is immensely annoying and costly as compared to using my wifi, which I already pay for. Then when I got security cameras just outside my front and back door, the wifi is so trash that I would lose connection and be unable to view live feeds. I asked my provider how to improve this, and they sent me two eero wifi boosters, which I would rent from them at an additional $12/month. These boosters can be bought on Amazon for $100 each, but with a rental from a provider I would have paid infinite amounts for them in my lifetime. Anyway, those expensive boosters did not do one thing at all, and I had the provider take them back. When I got this booster, my whole life changed. With one unit, I paid $61 with tax to own. No forever rental fee... I immediately had amazing wifi connection. I had full bars wifi downstairs, main floor, upstairs, outside and I still had access to my wifi from 4 houses away! It was so simple to set up, I am totally unskilled in this tech but I did it in about 10 minutes. It walks you through it so easily and clearly anyone could set one up. It also seems the download speeds are much faster, although I cannot entirely confirm, this is just what I have noticed from Xbox downloads and personal opinion. The app shows you how many devices are connected to the booster, how the quality of the connection is, it has the ability to block devices from the booster and scans for safety and anti-virus. I was thinking you had to have it connected by that special cord but you don't. You can have everything connected and working properly just by plugging the machine into any outlet so long as it is close enough to pull a connection to your wifi. I put mine on the main floor when my router is in the basement and it connects everything dang near to Nantucket. Best sixty bucks spent recently, really thrilled with it. I would recommend this to anyone, especially people tricked into renting a booster from their providers. Do not spent a million dollars over your life, just spend sixty bucks and have something you own and that works. Before I couldn't get wifi upstairs or even if I stepped one foot outside. Now I can get wifi from places so far I won't even be. Buy it!
