Black Cherry develops a rich reddish-brown patina as it ages that's frequently imitated with wood stains on other hardwoods.One thing I'd like to point out, is that because I work directly with the Amish, this lumber is coming from the tree, direct to you. Any lumber you see at your local hardware store has been picked over by many, many people, and you'll never see prime boards like I'm selling here. Unless otherwise noted, this wood has been graded "Select and better", which is the highest grade given to boards. That means that at least 83% of your wood will be free and clear of knots or defects.

Mine wasn't Clear but was very nice.
Lumber was very nice. It was not clear though. It had a small knot toward the bottom edge right near the center. I cut it and edge glued it into a wider panel, so the knot didn't bother me. This time.

Straight board
I wasn’t sure about ordering lumber online, but the piece was perfectly straight. There’s no doubt in my mind I’d order lumber here again. Way better than the HD & Lowe’s options.

Flaw
Beautiful grain through out. However a loose knot 1/3 from one end was a little upsetting. I was able to work around this flaw. Other wise it was a beautiful board.

So, so cherry
A little too rough in places, but mostly very pale which gave me a challenge to even out color of other much darker cherry boards.
