Volcom Men's Modern Fit Chino Short

These are much shorter and tighter fitting than actual Volcom Frickin Chino shorts. The color is also darker than the Volcom khaki. That would have been fine but the fit will not work out. Not in to the short shorts on men fad.

Bought these for my boyfriend, size 34. I was so tired of seeing him wear those cargo shorts that were popular in 2009. This style is in and sleeker looking in my opinion. The material is soft and has a slight stretch to it. My boyfriend says it feels like wearing athletic shorts. Volcom is a nice, understated brand. You can wear these with a short sleeve button up in the summer to dress it up a bit or a t-shirt for an everyday look. They are breezy, and have all the pockets you need, four!

Shorts were true to size. They are comfortable & fit nice. I’m 5’7” with 31” waist & these fit well throughout. I’m a white boy without much back so they fit a bit loose along the back but so do all my pants/shorts. I’m happy with them & hope they hold up for a long time. So far so good.

So the shorts are nice maybe a little smaller than what I expected but not bad. Here's where it gets odd. The shorts show up and I decide to try them on. I feel something in the back pocket and figure it must be the tags that were nowhere to be found. Nope, it was four $1 bills. A few things could have happened. 1: Someone at Volcom was handing out presents, 2: someone at amazon was handing out presents, 3: someone wore these shorts out, got drunk, wedged $4 in the pocket forgot about and decided they didnt like the shorts and sent them back. I'm thinking #3 is most likely and I paid full price for returned shorts (although I guess I saved $4). Pretty strange.

After wearing a pair of Volcom shorts for 5 years, and countless searching for another pair of shorts that fit me right, I found these. Loved them so much that I bought a pair in pretty much every color. They have a little stretch to them, very lightweight, and the perfect length. I'm 5'10" and these come to the middle of my kneecap. I'm normally a 33" but I purchased these in a 34" and slightly shrunk them in a hot wash to get my desired fit.

Volcom used to list these as having a 19" outseam. They currently list them as having a 22" outseam. This Amazon listing lists them as having a 21" outseam. I ordered a pair (32W) and they were about 19". Too short for me (I'm about 6'1"). Lack of consistency, selling of old product, or communication issues at play here.

I have several pairs of the VMonty shorts in different colors, and these fit pretty much the same. However, they are about 2 inches shorter or so. The VMontys come about halfway over the knee, whereas these rest just above the knee. I'm 6 foot 1, 180 lbs., and have a 33 inch waist, for comparison. They fit as expected. My advice is to buy your normal size, wash cold and line dry.One big bummer for me, and hence the rating, is the navy color. I specifically chose these because I couldn't get the VMontys in navy. These are "dark navy", and they are almost black in person, different than how they appear in the photos. They don't match anything that has real navy color in it. Hoping to match these to some shirts you have with navy in them like I was? They don't match. Frickin chinos, frickin annoying.

Color was nice, length was good, but the problem for me is that I bought these (and prominently labeled) as STRETCH shorts, and they were 0% stretch. I believe it is a factory QC problem. The label of cloth materials indicated it should have been stretch but it was not. This is not the first time I have bought stretch product from Volcom and it not be stretch. They really need to check their suppliers for defects in the manufacturing and assembly process. Returned.

Nice pair of shorts but the fabric is not that qualitative.After two times washing them, the color is gone.

Lightweight and comfortable. 4 stars as i wish they were just 1 inch shorter. Really nice though.

These hybrid material makes these shorts both casual and smart. Highly recommended.
