Loosen back screws to remove battery cover - do not slide
The instructions indicate the battery cover just slides off. There are two screws on the back side which hold the battery cover in place. Loosen these screws and the battery cover is released.

Very nice for the low price
It’s accurate and it repeats itself. Doing woodworking I need to know the thickness of my materials for the cnc machine and this does a decent job. Definitely worth the price.Measures out in inches, millimeters; and new to me it also does fractions. Kind of cool with lose drill bits and such.

Need better instructions
I haven’t actually been able to test my caliper to give it a proper review because it came with a dead battery. When I tried to replace the battery by following the instructions the cover wouldn’t budge. If you look that the picture of the instructions on how to replace the battery, it indicates to slide the cover in the direction indicated. First, there’s no arrow indicating any direction to slide. So using common sense, i tried to slide the cover to the right first, and when that didn’t work, up and to the right. Still nothing happened. I saw a tab under the cover and thought maybe it was a locking tab which had to be depressed before allowing the cover to slide out. Used a small screwdriver and pushed down on the tab only to make a dent in the tab and scratch the cover.Thankfully someone else had this problem and asked on Amazon. The secret is that there’s a screw on the backside holding the cover which must be removed before you can LIFT (not ”slide”) the cover off.I sent the first one back because I couldn’t figured it out the first time and thought it was defective.Update the instructions and I’m sure fewer people will return the product. Now that it actually works, I can test it and update my review based on the functionality and accuracy of the caliper…

3rd update
Interesting my updated negative review got censored. (Short version: The accuracy variance disclosed is the LEAST amount of variance I can get out of it.. It gets Much worse the larger the measurement... and random who knows what.), But I have a third update. There are 2 micro screws on the top that can adjust how tight the control box hugs the caliper. I tightened mine so that it had drag.. then backed off a hair.. and now they are performing like they should. Without fixing them though .. they were pretty inaccurate.2nd review: denied. censored.. Ahh yes I think I know why... well I don't know how to tell you guys about what goes on here without getting censored. incredible times. Just this line here probably gives it a 50/50 it will get through now. You censors are salt of the earth for sure. Just wonderful human beings. Sainthoods for you. I like strawberry flavored shoe polish please.first review: So far they are perfect. Long term I will have to come back to this review. At first I thought they did not turn off by themselves to save the battery, unless I clicked them off.. but I was wrong and they raised me one. They come ON just using them. No need to ever turn on or off, which somehow feels like more luxury than I would have thought. I saw them on and thought oh great, more crap lol.. but they had just turned on right in that moment. Very heavy which surprised me. One more decimal than my last ones. plus the plunger thing. plus the fine tune wheel. plus metal. Consistently go back to zero. Seem pretty darn good for anyone but space-x.

They work - BUT?
They appear to be a quality caliper. Feel heavy in the hand and have an easy to read display.BUT, they did not work when I received them and it was problematic to find and open the battery compartment.Problem solved: The battery that came with the calipers was DEAD. Luckily, they came with a second battery?? Maybe that is a common problem so they ship with a 2nd battery.

Exceeds my expectations!!!
The M MOOCK digital caliper is well worth the money. Fit and finish: I would give it a 9 out of 10 as compared to a similar Mitutoyo or Starrett caliper. Overall quality: not bad considering the price. Accuracy: I checked mine against gauge blocks at 1 , 2 and 4 inches and the M MOOCK was within +/- 0.001 inches. Repeatability: very good. This is a great caliper and is suitable for the non-professional home user. I recommend this product.

Bad battery. Poor instructions! Read this before changing the battery.
Bad battery. Instructions to change the battery are poor. There is no mention of a small screw that must be removed to be able to slide off the battery cover. I ended up dinging up the cover trying to pry it off with a small screwdriver. I am keeping the caliper since it is still functional and may be difficult to return since I messed up the finish a little bit. I hope this review helps someone know of the small screw so they do not make the same mistake. Also, don't assume you will receive 3 functioning batteries with this purchase.

Stopped working less in less than a year with minimal use.
Update: Manufacture reached back out to me after my review and helped me get a replacement since it was still covered under warranty. Hopefully this one last as these are pretty nice for the price you are paying.I got this early this year and have used it only a couple of times when needed. Kept it stored in the case and in my desk drawer. This was being used in my office and not in a shop or industrial area. Less than a year later and the product no longer works. This is not a battery issue, but its just no longer working. Should not cost $30 if it wont even hold up to the lightest of use.
