Very useful.
I have to say most of what is contained in this book goes way over my head. This is the companion or quick reference book to the main Machinery's Handbook. I'm not an machinist or an engineer, I just have a small hobby workshop, yet I have learned a fair bit from it.

You will need the full Handbook with this Guide
This would have been a more useful book if I could have afforded the full Machinery's Handbook, which , at hundreds of dollars, I could not. This little Guide covers everything in not much detail : for example, there are only about 7 pages on the subject of screw threads with none of the tables that you really need. However, it does have questions. so you can check your understanding of a hundred different areas of machining. I will buy the Bible if and when I can afford it, and probably end up reading the Guide to get a basic understanding before I wade into the Handbook.
