hey momof3, my son 15 yrs uses them to play in the street with friends, he wears a med/large, much older them yours so i'd say go for a small or see if they sell ex small. a 6 yr old hands can't be that big. These gloves are ok for the price

You do not. Warm soapy water rubbed on after use. Dry low w dryer. Use talcum n a pinch sage. Outer wipe off. Palmscruined if machine clean. Gets hard n wears out
