At week 3, it is working!
I have lifted weights at the YMCA for 7 years. But recently I gained weight, and it went right to my arms and stomach. I used to have a protein shake 3 times a week, and I increased it to one-a-day after reading this book. Plus I traded in my inferior protein powder, although whey, for another at my local health food store after I read the ingredients. I also added a fiber, as instructed by JJ Virgin, which made sense. I chose Chia bran... 10 grams of fiber in 2 teaspoons and in my shake it went. This is truly a superfood. The Aztecs used to eat this regularly as you can read on the internet. I have not felt this good in years. I am 54 years old and I feel and look rejuvenated.I have done the weight bearing exercises as instructed, and have lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks while gaining muscle. I must admit I did cheat during this period with a little too much wine - my achilles heel... I purchased a mini-stepper at $70, not the one JJ recommends at $400, and have been doing the burst exercises as she shows in her video. It takes me about 8 minutes and I feel much more toned. I notice some definition forming on my shoulders now, less fatty tissue, so I will definitely keep this up. This seems to be working! It's not hard at all, just disciplined. I am already wearing more revealing clothes, and my boyfriend has indeed notiiced my mid-program physique. So far, results!

Enjoying Reading The Book
The book is a simple read with practical information..Some of it is not new..Some of it is. JJ highlights a healthy exchange list which I like..Ex. Trade light Mayo for gourmet mustard blends, Trade Blue cheese for goat cheese, Trade Egg beaters for Organic Eggs. She likes the use of coconut milk for weight loss... Shetalks about thinsticks at end of book as what she uses to keep her weight off. She promotes Dakota flaxseed and metabolic maintainence..The author has a lot of of confidence in her food plan and states if you do it exactly as outlined you will lose weight..She loves the use of avocado's, protein and quality carbs..(in the book). She uses the x-iser for burning fat. I love her explaination of how to think twice when you eat that 100 cal snack..which raises insulin which stops fat burning. I like her idea's for staying motivated...I love her video's and wanted to get the book to see how it all compliments each other. She makes it seem like she knows what she is talking about. It obviously is working for her. I have no metabolism..and produce little cortisol..so if her program works for me..I will definitely be back here to tell about it. If you want a simple read which reinforces some of what you know and gives you a few more idea's to get you from A to Z...I think its a good book. Some of her idea's I will use for my healthy living class. It doesn't have a lot of recipies in it though I think many people would not mind an easy plan without a lot of complicated recipies when they are trying to lose weight and she explains enough to get the point and or create more. I look foward to her next book that is coming out in December. I didn't give it 5 stars only bc I would have liked larger print. I enjoy recipies with pictures.

Armed and Dangerous
When I heard about JJ Virgin's new book, "Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy" I was interested, although a little skeptical at first. I've been less than happy with my arms over the last few years as my natural curves suddenly stopped resisting gravity. No fan of fad diets or quick-fixes, I had not found a system that worked well with my hectic life as a mother, business owner and editor of a new magazine. I liked the sound of JJ's approach, though, and gave it a try. Wow! JJ's practical, tell-it-like-it-is system fits naturally into my lifestyle and I was able implement it right away. While she allows for the craziness of real life, she also doesn't let me make excuses - and I loved it. Finally, a program I really can get behind. I'm already feeling more confident, healthier, and planning my new sleeveless summer wardrobe. I carry this book with me everywhere for motivation and am definitely going to exercise my right to bare arms this summer - thanks to JJ.

I a little disappointed in that I expected more detail and more exercises or techniques for improving the arms. The exercises shown are the same that I find at the gym or in other articles. The diet section is good, but should not have been of the book. I will let you know how my arms look in six weeks.

Loved Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy
Before buying this book I read each review. I dont normally write reviews myself but This book is soooo good that I want to make sure that women out there know. JJs wrtiting is simple, clear and honest. JJ knows our excuses, our previous failures and worst fears. Her book is not about a plan or a diet.. Its finally about flipping a switch in your head for healthier habits to follow for every day of your life. And what i loved the most was the part of what happens if you slip? Hey this is not a diet she says. So there is no good or bad day. You dont have to keep on eating or not exercising because you cheated with a bagel this morning. Anyway, her nutrition plan is perfect and real. Loved this book. Thanks jj. This book will change my life. For real.

Email that comes with book
I ordered this item through a link in the Daniel Amen e-newsletter. It indicated that in addition to the book, the purchaser would receive access to several websites that provide nutrition and health info. After signing up for each and downloading additional material from some of the sites, I find my inbox contains daily emails from some of these sites, mostly the emails are selling supplements. I'm in the process of unsubscribing to the emails. If you happen to order the book through the Amen link to Amazon, think twice about signing up for the many "free" websites and services that come with purchase of the book. It's hard to make time to deal with all of that material if you're a busy person.

A must have book changing my life!
I very seldom write reviews but had to write one for this, jj virgin wow what a lady. First off I was looking for book for guidance I have 12 weeks until I get married and needed a quick fix or so I planned, I have been on every diet known to man the high fat no carb, the cabbage diet, duken diet, weight watchers, slim fast, Atkins slimming world etc you name it I've been on it, the diets I have made my self really ill, the diet where I have had skin break outs, but this wow this is an easy simple diet and excerice regime, this take you right back to basics with regards to eating, I have three square meals a day and not even craving or hungry in between, if you can plan your meals ahead of time I highly recommend it, like everything you do need to be dedicated, if you are in the mind set you want to lose weight and KEEP it off then this is the book for you, exercises can be done in a gym or at home you will need to buy a exercise ball for your height and some weights and not light ones the heaviest you can handle and what you can't buy dedication for six weeks.I go the gym three times a week work out two hours at a time with minimal results, I have been on this diet for ONE week and already lost 1 inch off my waist and 1/2 inch of my hips, now I am a size 10 and believe it or not its harder for me to loose weight one week later and the results speak for themselves you maybe thinking size 10 what's wrong with that we'll firstly muffin top over trousers and jeans wobbly belly wobbly top of legs and the dreaded bingo wings. I brought this book as I don't want the wobbly bingo wings flying in the air wearing my beautiful wedding dress, I whole heartily believe even if your a size 26 you would still see amazing results in six weeks, this book retrains not only your workout and eating habits it sorts your stress and sleeping out to, I have slept like a babe since being on it and I'm less argumentative.So if you are looking for a no nonsense book from someone who already made the mistakes so you don't have to give jj virgins book a go.I will try to update on my progress weekly if I can figure it out to let you know weekly how my body changes.*******************UPDATE********************Well I have been sticking to the plan religiously and I'm at the end of week 4, wow wow wow! I have not felt hungry nor craved the sweet things as jj explains, I have not missed a gym session and have slotted it into my life with ease RESULTS are (drum roll please)Waist an amazing 25.5 inches started out as 28 inchesHips a remarkable 35.5 inches started out as 38 inchesNo more muffin top no more bingo wings everything feels tight not only to touch but from the inside out if that makes sense, thank you so much jj if you ever read this I still have two more weeks to go to complete the six weeks but already I feel and look fantastic.This isn't a diet book it's a way of life for me now!Forget all your diet books excerise plans this is the way forward, you can change your life I know I have. I will update my progress at week six to let you all know the final results, this isn't the end for me though its just the beginning.

Good advice but would be better with pictures
I work in the wellness industry and found the advice is great; detailed enough to guide but succinct. Would be better to have pictures or video links for the exercises though, to ensure understanding and good form.

Just so-so...
It's ok, but not a sure-fire way to help you kick sugar or eat healthy etc. I'd pass and get her newer books.
