All aboard
As the crew set sail and ride through a storm, in the calm of the morning after, a treasure ship is spied, the cannons BOOM!, and cutlasses get drawn! An interesting compromise is reached that ends in some merriment before there appears to be more trouble on the horizon!ooOoođ´ââ ď¸~ TITLE : ON A PIRATE SHIPđŚ~ AUTHOR : SARAH COURTAULDđ´ââ ď¸~ ILLUSTRATOR : BENJI DAVIESđŚ~ PUBLISHER : USBORNE PICTURE BOOKS~ 2007 PAPERBACK EDITIONâPrinted in UAEâooOooFrom the back cover:âHave you ever wondered what it would be like to live on a pirate ship?Follow the adventures of a swashbuckling captain and his crew as they brave a storm and search for treasure.âThe âLOOK INSIDEâ facility above currently shows a snatch of the book.ooOooMeasuring around 24.75 cm square, the colourful card cover on the well bound book opens to 24 shiny finish pages of which 20 are the story, set over double page spreadsâŚexcept the first & last, which are the same scene, albeit a bit less tidy at the back! The superb atmospheric illustrations, from Benji Davies, have more in them than first meets the eye, offering scope for further discussion. Catching the eye of a younger audience, is a colourful parrot, a cheeky little monkey, the cute cat, along with a yellow rubber duck. With a couple of short sentences on each page, with some simple speech, the text is a good size in black and is ENHANCED at times FOR EFFECT![12 images attached ŠSarah Courtauld, Benji Davies & Usborne Publishing Ltd/2007]

The story is a bit weak
My grandson loves pirates, and so treated him to some new pirate books as I keep reading the same ones to him. The pictures a lovely although they donât Zoom well, at story time. But the story is quite a weak one. He loves it though, but he doesnât keep asking for it again and again, so not value for money really.

Brilliantly written and illustrated!
What a wonderful book! I purchased this recently on a whim as I looked for books for my 16 month old, ans the moment I opened the envelope she took it and insisted I read it over and over. She loves making the boom noise for the cannon and pointing out the cat or the parrot. I love the feel of the front cover, it's a hardback but there's foam under the paper so it's kind of squashy.I would definitely recommend this book for younger toddlers and those learning to read.

Boys love pirates
My three year old grandson loves pirates. Well, and kings too. His Mum is amused.

Could be better...
This board boook is smaller than I thought but ok for my toddler's small hands and sadly the story is not very engaging.
