Outstanding book
I have read all of Catherine Gildiner's books and I have loved each one. This one is not a memoir or a novel (as her previous books were), but is a group of four case studies of patients who came to her psychotherapy practice. Each was troubled as a result of severe childhood abuse. The four stories are riveting, difficult, and ultimately positive. This book is written for the lay person and is not technical. Gildiner makes the stories relatable to anyone. I couldn't recommend this book more highly.

powerful lessons to learn - must read!
This book was so hard to put down. The characters are powerful, inspiring fighters. The way Catherine told their stories was beautiful, shocking, bold and drew me in deeply. I learned so much about myself and human nature, which has helped me in all my relationships.

Moving, revealing.
Well worth the read. Nothing more inspiring than the triumph of ordinary people over extraordinary tragedy. Tasteful and respectfully written.
