A very helpful device!
I do physical therapy and I get these for my patients that are unable to pivot safely. I find this helpful with patients that are non weight bearing on one leg, amputees but able to stand on one leg, weak and unable to stand erect. I always use a gait belt for additional safety. This disc is extremely helpful in avoiding twisting on the knee that is bearing most of the weight as it pivots the entire person with little effort, thus prolonging the joint surface of the knee and reducing pain. In ten years of using these discs, I've only had one patient that did not appreciate its use and it was because she had dementia and was fearful of falling. This device is a back saver and a fall preventer. If you care for someone that is unable to safely transfer, this will make all the difference.

Pivot disc works great
My 150# father has very little use of his legs. It had gotten to the point that transfers between wheelchair and car were putting severe stress on knee and ankle joints. It also made the transfer very hard work on me.I couldn't believe how much difference this made. It worked as advertised, but that doesn't really explain what a huge difference this has made.I highly recommend this product. In fairness, I haven't compared to other pivot discs.

Not for heavy people.
Problem: If you weigh 160ish or more standing on this disc is too hard to rotate!

A bit disappointed about that as his mobility varies from day to ...
Unfortunately it did not work for our situation. My husband has MS and when completing a transfer with him only one foot plants firmly down. Because of this the turn of the disc did not work properly. Tried to return the item but was told I could not because I was outside the 30 day window. A bit disappointed about that as his mobility varies from day to day so we were not able to try the product in order to return earlier.

This has been fantastic to help move my grandma around
This has been fantastic to help move my grandma around. It takes a little bit to get used to and as the caregiver you will need the strength to do "the twist", especially if who you are taking care of if unstable or very weak. Sometimes I find it very hard to spin. I put end dust in between the two plates to help it along. I recommend it, but be warned it takes some practice to get it down.

Genius!
This works wonderfully to turn a standing person for moving from a chair/bed to another seat. It seems heavy duty. It is necessary that at least 1 assistant be able to securely hold the turning person if they lose their balance--it's not enough that the asistant merely be able to provide balance. The assistant must also hold the disc in place when the turning person stands up or sits so that it doesn't slide (it is slide resistant but not slide-proof).

Mom's Physical therapist saw this and found it on Amazon and is ordering it for her clients. It is working great. My 91 year old mom was hesitant at first and with a lot of encouragement tried it with her transfers from bed to wheelchair, etc and now she is very glad she did!
