DS017MK Maintenance Kit for the DS017 Deluxe SOLDAPULLT

Don't confuse this with it's smaller relitives! This thing sucks!!! In the GOOD way! I had tried using one like this but smaller and I swore I'd never go back. My co-worker and I work on hospital equipment and he said I should try his Soldapullt once instead of the de-soldering iron with a bulb pump on a project that we were working on. I'll never mess with a de-soldering iron again. This thing will suck every last bit of solder off a board or whatever you are working on. The only thing that I have used that works better is one of those really expensive de-soldering irons with an electic pump for constant suction. I did buy an extra tip for mine for less than $3 although I don't think I'll ever have to replace it. I TRIED to melt what seems like a plasic tip on this thing and it withstood the heat. I see that there is another product on here called the Soldapullt III but I know that this one works so I'm buying one for myself. Hope this reveiw helps!

Since I needed a desoldering tool right away, I bought a cheap one from R____ S____ It's cheap, it works, but not well:  DESOLDERING PUMP  Unlike that one, the Edsyn works with little or no "recoil"... that wouldn't seem to matter, but if you're aiming the tip at a junction and the pump "jumps" when you release the plunger, it doesn't help. The Edsyn's barrel is much larger, so it will move a greater volume of air and will clean a solder joint very effectively. Parts are replaceable and it's made in the USA!Update: I don't know why Amazon doesn't carry the DS017 any more but there is a similar one:  Edsyn Desoldering Pump, PT109, Soldapullt III  Same tips, smaller bore, longer stroke. Whatever.Also: Try Edsyn's website - they sell the DS017 directly, and at a good price.

This solder-sucker is worth the extra cost. It has a lot more suction than the standard (cheaper) vesions and pulls the solder out of the PCB holes with muscle to spare. I've used the smaller, cheaper solder-suckers and this is definitely an upgrade I would recommend.

this bitch is bad. sucks really hard. construction is top notch.beware not to test it on your skin bc it will give you miniature hickies.great stuff.

Let me just say that after using the Radioshack craptastic soldering vacuum, this thing was a godsend. Really powerful, no recoil, and the nozzle is wider to extract a lot more solder per pump. Unfortunately, it broke after less than a week of occasional use; the top flew off as I was depressing the plunger, a piece of the plastic threading had broken off and something else broke off inside of the tip, rendering it useless. I was worried from the get-go, since the plastic construction just felt flimsy to me, and the amount of force needed to ready each pump seemed to put quite a bit of strain on the body.Maybe I just got a lemon, since it seems to have a good reputation elsewhere. But I'm not really keen on spending another $20+ to find out.

What more can I say? The thing is a beast. Durable as hell. I routinely throw it at people I don't like. Don't even bother with ones from other companies. Buy this one and you can hand it down to your kids like my father did.
